Tim Berners-Lee 2018
“We demonstrated that the Web had failed instead of served humanity, as it was supposed to have done, and failed in many places,” he told me. The increasing centralization of the Web, he says, has “ended up producing—with no deliberate action of the people who designed the platform—a large-scale emergent phenomenon which is anti-human.”
I do not trust the conditions.
When I use a browser on my Android phone to login to something, I have previously stored in memory my password, to paste, previously written in a text editor (Ted, xgouchet.fr, also jackpal Terminal,) and copied into memory, and then force stop clear cache the editor, word still in memory. Maybe this is credible?
Or I hit airplane mode, can type in my 3 digit CVC code off the back of my credit card whilst IN a transaction, I guess there is a time limit. Maybe this is credible?
Everybody participating in the world can not function like Richard Stallmann, unrealistic.
The prescribed result, is a toxic level of mass hysteria for the patient, in this case, the news subscriber.
Please be mindful of criticising Tim Berners-Lee because I am perhaps biased because we both come from Oldham.

I seem to be more of a fossil than you. I do not have a working cell phone. Only one which has never had a working account for 911 emergency use only . . .
The web is deranged because it magnifies the reality that our species is deranged with greed, hatred and delusion. I vote for extinction . . .

golinux, 0 seconds 0 life, life is short and any time you get is luck, I think you do most well to not have a working cell phone.
I like very very much indeed that you say that the web magnifies the reality, greed.
A friend said to me the world is so corrupt you don't know who to bribe.
Assassinations was my reply.
Apocalypse now, Kurtz, Willard, are you an assassin, I'm a soldier, you're neither, you're an errand boy, working for grocery clerks, here to collect the bill.
God makes you mad before God destroys you.
I know this is not a theology forum.
Thank you for participating in helping me yesterday, today Chimaera clean install, zero problems, absolutely perfect.

The first time I had a digital camera in my hands was in 1989, In a Magnum branch office in London. It was R&D from Japan, not a breeze block, same size as a Leica, I'm not kidding.
At that time we were using film and chemicals and fax scanner and satellite in a suitcase which cost about 50,000 bucks.
In 1998 I purchased a Toshiba off Ebay for 200 quid, put Red Hat 6 on it, 15 quid second-hand Motorola off Ebay, cdc-acm gprs modem.
Hard work, didn't have computers when I went to school. First time.

Lately I think that I see people, possessed by society, totally addicted to their phones. I know that control is an illusion of course. Zombie Holocaust. Very very frightening to anybody and that includes anybody profoundly experienced in the profession of violence.

To think that we'll be extinct is naive, it is possible of course.
I mean we've been mainstream humans for 15 to 60 million years, I'd put maverick and vanguard optimum self-sufficiency types much much much longer time, and what with stupidity (the prevailing force in the universe,) and unrequited burning desire, it's taken us that long to make a flashlight.
We have a long way to go.
I think that being forced to eat rotten food (i.e., narcotics in quantum greater quantities,) because we were starving from being slotted by asteroids and comets and meteors, metamorphosised the primate to the human stage.

Interesting theory :-)
The speech centres that separate us from primates originated with mutations in a single gene. All consciousness from one flip of a genetic bit.
Mutations in the FOXP2 gene could help explain why humans can speak but chimps can't.
EDIT: is /usr/local/bin/beaver executable and is /usr/local/bin/ in your user's PATH?

I've been logged out a minute,
I'm logged in on alt f2 as user, and startx, and open a terminal and type /usr/local/bin/beaver and hit enter and beaver opens.
Now I will think about DNA for a minute.
I think Steven Hawking said for millions of years we lived just like the animals and then something happened which unleashed the power of our imagination, we learned to talk.
I will think a minute.

Thinking is the root of the human predicament. Our "madness" imposes a false narrative on the experiences impinging on our sensory organs and we turn that bare experience into a fantasy that has little to do with reality. IOW we live in a dream (more of a prison) that is of our own making. It is a choice to dream but not so easy to wake up . . .

There's some precise studies done on this, you will find on the web without much difficulty,
in Greece they just throw grapes with their yeasty sheen in a barrel (olives cured just in sea water,) there's that Belgian beer brand (they just let the air in through the windows,)
I lived on the island of Ikaria (Greece,) a few times, met this old Israeli bloke telling me the cannaboids is in the DNA code (and we synthesise these hydrocarbons ourselves.)
I make nettle beer hop same cannaboid species, I make a strong nettle tea in a casserole pot, cool it, toss in some sugar or whatever bit of any yeast little squeeze of gif lemon, and wait.
volume is 7 parts water to 1 part whatever, oranges, anything, innmates are perhaps the best at it.
alcohol is a totally arabic word.
they discovered a dig out there recently making like half a million pints a week or something.
Muslims can drink but not the brew of the 'enemy.'
About middle-ages the monks on these isles were making beer as strong as the strongest wine (that's Samos, next to Ikaria, 16%,) the monks here's personal was 10 pints a day.
How did them pyramids get built, meat, milk, beer, perhaps a bit of room for some bread and onions.
Control.
As for the mushrooms I think Romania Transylvania is premium.
I like three pints and half a bottle of wine, and five cigarettes a day (not whacky,) reduces the internal pressure in my left eye which is crushing the optic nerve because the sneaky WMD mechanism knackers the eye drain mechanism.
Perhaps the best tonic for the nervous system is a sedative in lettuce, there's a Jew sect in Kurdistan don't eat it because of their choice.
Our bodies make stuff.

Rishi and Suella and Jeremy did philosophy, politics, economics
If you said to about 97% of Greeks, ksero den ksero, I know I not now (NOT, I know I don't know,) those 97% would reply Socrates.
What if I said in English, not in Greek, I know I not know, to them 3.
Then Socrates says the second words out of his mouth (which are the same as the first.)
We have all the questions, and none of the answers, and all the answers that are provided for us are bullshit.
