A definite NO from me - but if you want to build it for yourself, go ahead....
I suggested using the Desktop .iso, not the Live .iso - the 'live' can only install XFCE, whilst the 'desktop' gives you the choice.
(I have found that using 'live' sometimes needs to be connected to the internet to be able to install the Grub boot loader.)
If you have a home wifi, the SSID is usually on it somewhere, maybe look underneath....
If you use the 'Desktop' installer .iso, you should be able to install your choice of desktop to install, directly to your drive.
Kernels are not built for i486 machines these days, no distro will work on it, (unless it specifically says so) - better look for another O/S to use on it.
Maybe try FreeDOS.
If Debian packages have a reliance on systemd, then they are incompatible.....blame Debian. ![]()
Ditto, been using sysV for many years without any problems, so see no reason to change... ![]()
During that time, both my IP address and personal email were publicly searchable and downloadable - in machine-readable format no less. I'm in a country where this data is legally protected, so Dev1Galaxy may even be legally liable
Not at all, no one made you join the forums, so is totally on you.... ![]()
AI is just a big database, most of the info has been 'stolen' from other resources, & a lot of answers given by it are incorrect.
It'll probably get better, eventually, but don't trust it outright....
I found that if you connect to the internet, it will download & install grub OK, if you don't connect to the internet before installing, you won't get grub installed.
Depends which version you installed....
I used to install from the live desktop, which booted to desktop, with sudo configured; nowadays, I just use the server version & install with XFCE, (no sudo configured).
Check out the packages differences between them.
Welcome aboard. ![]()
You are right, I should have said Excaliber - thats the trouble with using various different computer systems.... ![]()
Which ones are using Excaliber?
(Most seem to be using older versions)
Maybe doesn't help you, but I have no problems using Firefox on XFCE on my I3 or i5 computers, using Devuan from 'server' media installs.....
I don't see any reason to use multiple sites to discuss Devuan, it would fracture discussions over multiple sites, we have a very good place to discuss all thing Devuan right here. ![]()
If it likes Firefox but not PaleMoon, easiest fix would be to install Firefox, update/upgrade, then uninstall Firefox if you don't want to keep it. ![]()
....and it wasn't that long ago that the default user was 'pi', but at least now they ask at installation.... ![]()
But it still annoys me that they take over the whole disk.....
It's the normal way on Linux.... ![]()
Possibly, create a new user....
Basically, if you want systemd install Debian, but if you want freedom, use a systemd free distro - there are others as well as our favourite. ![]()
I suggest you take a look at antiX, they have various init systems, & have been using them for some time now...
Maybe we will get a non commercial internet because of this, it had been rumoured before that this might happen when commercial interests took over the web... ![]()
Why not/maybe just go ahead, & after installing refracta snapshot, just reinstall mate(?).
