Yes, I'm still here. For the past 2 weeks, I've spent untold number of hours, trying to figure out how to replace my Devuan Daedalus keyrings (or at least whichever ones allow APT and Synsptic to do more than complain at me).
No matter where I go, every repo (including the Devuan ones) scold me that they can't help me, because I don't have any keyrings. Nope my "keyrings" folder is empty.
Don't ask me how it happened. I'm way too burned out to even try to explain. I just need to make it UN-happen, without totally re-installing Devuan Daedalus.
I've found lots and lots of OLD, useless information and advice. I've found HOUR and HOURS of DEBIAN advice, even though I make it very clear that my searches are for "devuan".
I even found several different LONG, LONG text files that may be related, or they may even BE keyring information. But that's all -- no one ever explains what I should do with those files. Save them as something? Put them in some root folder somewhere?
Yes, I'm really, really frustrated. That's why, after all this time, if there is nothing I can do about it, I'm going to give up on APT and Synaptic, and just keep running this old, Daedalus PC without any updates, until either it, or I, quit running.
Thanks in advance for any help you can give me to FIX THIS PROBLEM. I trust you guys (and gals).

I just spent nearly 2 hours at https://www.devuan.org/os/keyring.
EVERY. SINGLE. THING. THAT. COULD. GO. WRONG.
The Daedelus keyring ALWAYS downloaded for me as a 0 bytes file.
Following the instructions on that page, I got yelled at for Bad paths, unexpected end of file, and about 10 other things.
I must have tried those instructions, over and over, from start-to-finish AT LEAST 35 TIMES.
I gotta get some sleep. ;(

Couldn't you just install or overwrite the official keyring DEB file?
wget http://deb.devuan.org/merged/pool/DEVUAN/main/d/devuan-keyring/devuan-keyring_2025.08.09_all.deb
sudo dpkg -i devuan-keyring_2025.08.09_all.debI haven't tried, since I don't want to go through all the fuckery introduced in Trixie. You also have to install UsrMerge before you even change your repositories over to Excalibur.

This looks to be the dædalus keyring: https://pkginfo.devuan.org/cgi-bin/pack … 2023.05.28
The downloaded devuan-keyring_2023.05.28_all.deb file should be 101,000 bytes (as indicated on that page; and I just verified the filesize and sha256sum are correct). Not sure what would cause a 0 byte download.
Another possibility, depending on the state of apt, would be to try:
apt-get install devuan-keyring --allow-unauthenticatedOr, if it says it's already installed,
apt-get reinstall devuan-keyring --allow-unauthenticatedThis is totally unrelated, but the website in your signature has issues (or maybe it just doesn't like me). ![]()

Hello:
... the website in your signature has issues (or maybe it just doesn't like me).
Could be.
Seems that it does not like me either. 8^°
At least using Firefox 128.3.1esr and Firefox 148.0-1 to visit.
But not with PaleMoon 33.2.1

If it likes Firefox but not PaleMoon, easiest fix would be to install Firefox, update/upgrade, then uninstall Firefox if you don't want to keep it. ![]()

ComputerBob: If you still are having troubles after trying any of the proposed solutions, please post the exact output of the commands you are running. It's hard to guess what went wrong without a specific error message, and I'm not even sure what you were trying to do in the first place. Is apt update giving an error? The more information you're able to provide, the more likely it is that someone will be able to give helpful steps to fix the problem.
