As far as I know that's the latest one.

Re: Vuu-do Linux! *New Openbox-64 iso's (1.0.7) up 2-02-18*!!

New versions of Openbox up today, 64 bit mini and maximal 1.0.7.

This is mainly a maintenance and update release, several dozen updates in the last two months, lots of programs and an important kernel update.

Palemoon is updated to very latest version (released yesterday in fact) 27.7.2.

All repo software updated to yesterday (2-01-2018).

Added acpi-support to both and added ntp to the minimal, some small fixes here and there and some work on icons etc.

Probably going to take the Mate versions and the 32 bit openbox down, they are old now and it's not likely i'll update them anymore, going to focus on 64 bit Openbox.

Howdy greenjeans...
After taking MiyoXTRA for a good test-drive ~ it was time to put Vuu-do on the 2nd partition.
I must say...I likes the Openbox and both your choices of apps & minimal system.
I'll be hanging with this setup as I did when I installed Deb 2. wayyy back when... yikes

and noticed...

Only `cause I'm using it right now, I checked & it sez, "Version: 27.6.2 (64-bit)" really no biggie. wink

Thanks for the kind words Stanz!!

Not sure why it's showing 27.6.2 on yours, is it the latest one? I just checked the build partition to be sure and it's showing me 27.7.2 as is this partition.

Re: Vuu-do Linux! *New Openbox-64 iso's (1.0.7) up 2-02-18*!!

This is what I got...
Vuu-do Linux Release Notes:
Version: 1.0.7 Openbox-64 minimal (non-uefi)| Software updated to: 2-01-2018

and you added,

All Vuu-do images include (and are built with) Refracta-snapshot, Refracta-installer, and Refracta2usb, making it easy for anyone to "roll their own". Users are actively encouraged to do so...

I'd like too...if I could only find the "Refracta for Dummies" instructions!! yikes
But thats another post smile

Thx golinux ~
Been there...
I did try to research - for the time I had, but didn't find answers for my 'dummy' questions.

I tried to iso my miyo, after installs & tweaks...no luck.
I figure to type my attempts/progress/failures and post it somewhere... hmm
No time also to ask on irc.
to be continued... yikes

Thx again  smile

If you're having trouble making a live iso, run refractasnapshot -d to get a more verbose error log (/var/log/refractasnapshot_errors.log). The most common cause of a failed build is to run out of space.

Hi All & Thx... Life has got me elsewhere right now.  tongue
I will post somewhere, what I did & what I have no clue about...didn't want to disrupt greenjeans thread.
Thanks Miyo - I'd want to copy your info!
fsmithred ~ hello & thanks for refracta help! I just don't get "how-to" & "why", as my iso was nothing above a Mb.
I need time to type more & explain smile ...when time permits!!

Re: Vuu-do Linux! *New Openbox-64 iso's (1.0.7) up 2-02-18*!!

Hey guys, long time, you know how life gets in the way of linux sometimes, lol.

Just updating my intentions in case anyone is still interested in Vuu-do, I originally made Vuu-do to be an ultra-stable LTS version, with both parent distro (Devuan) and the kernel being LTS until 2020, and that's what it still is, haven't made any updated isos in a year, but all my machines on it are still running very smoothly, so I haven't seen a need. I usually just roll these mini-distros for myself once about every 3-5 years anyway.

I haven't messed with Devuan 2.0 much, and haven't seen a need to do so as i'm not quite ready to start making a new Vuu-do, so most likely scenario for the next Vuu-do will be Beowulf (Devuan 3) or even the version after that, depends on the support level for both the distro and the kernel, really wanting to stick with building on a stable LTS platform.

So though i'm gonna start playing with the new stuff this year, it will be early 2020 most likely before there is a new Vuu-do version. Takes me a ridiculously long time to do this stuff, lol, so it will probably take all year for me to get it right.

Hope everybody has been doing well! Have missed hanging out with y'all!

Much love,
~greenjeans

Re: Vuu-do Linux! *New Openbox-64 iso's (1.0.7) up 2-02-18*!!

Oh it's not dead, just not updated. I actually started work on a new one using Daedalus last winter, but spring came and I had a mountain of stuff to do. It's a lot of work, the original took me at least 6 months or better and that's me working on it for a few hours every night.

Lot's of new issues though that were not present in the first version of Devuan. And kernel bloat and ram usage really wore me out, so I put it on hold, will re-visit when winter hits.

Was actually thinking of doing a MATE version of Devuan first, something like the default version of Devuan, the one that uses Refracta-installer and just installs XFCE as opposed to the ordeal of doing a standard net-install with the Debian installer. As just kind of a community service.

But also possibly doing a Vuu-Do version with MATE, with original artwork and theme and icons etc. Chopped like a madman of course without the niceties you find in an actual distro as per the Vuu-Do way, lol.

I still use Vuu-do quite a bit, 2 of 3 partitions on my laptop are still Vuu-Do, I just use an imageapp to have a newer browser, everything still works on the original just fine, better than fine in fact, it is faster in every way, like lightning quick compared to my Daedalus MATE install. And uses a hella lot less ram, which is good for my old machine.

ETA: I really should run a new copy of Vuu-do, not that anybody is still downloading it, but I found and fixed a couple bugs with some scripts that I wrote, and now my OCD is yelling at me because the ones with the flaws are still up there last I checked, lol.

Re: Vuu-do Linux! *New Openbox-64 iso's (1.0.7) up 2-02-18*!!

Shoot, I guess I could do a re-run, fix the little bugs I mentioned, and replace the browser with an imageapp. It's not like everything else on it doesn't work, it all works fine. I don't know that anybody would want to try it though. But it would be a good one to throw onto older hardware, it's so light on resource-usage.

I put a titanic amount of work into that thing, I have a really deep appreciation for all the developers out there that make Devuan and all it's derivatives, those guys are heroes to me.
