Hey Ron, oh yeah, no Pulse or Pipewire in Vuu-do.

It can be removed from Mate pretty easily, and Mate has it's own built-in mixer that works with Alsa.

Hi greenjeans, I installed today your Devuan-Mate-Mini-6-20250901_1322.iso. Thanks for making this available. After a minor hiccup I got things running smoothly. (I was having an extended boot time, way beyond normal. After some poking around the answer was to add the word "noresume" on a line in fstab.)

11-29-2025 Updated versions of Vuu-do now available.

Some package updates including a new kernel. Fixed a bug in the last ScrotShot.
Updated to new version 2.0 of AlsaTune which introduces new features including a test
tone button and a soundcard-switcher in the gui. New .asoundrc that allows multiple
streams to play. Fixed some issues in the Oxy2-ZEN icons set. Apparmor is no longer
installed by default. Lots of little tweaks. Boot is faster and cleaner now and the new
AlsaTune seems to be just the ticket for most systems, but more complex ones will
likely require some editing. For most laptops it's all you'll need.

Happy everything my friends, thanks for an awesome year! For my little contribution
to the gift-giving I offer a new version of AlsaTune with the ability to edit saved EQ pre-sets
file directly from the GUI! And also a new Vuu-do ob-max-z with many updates, a couple little
bug fixes and some housecleaning, I packaged the thumbnail-cacher script, and of course
added the new version 3.1-1 of AlsaTune. New versions of Chromium, VLC, and ffmpeg as well.
I'll get a new mini-z up here in a day or so, today it's just the max version.

So that Vuu-do max I put up a couple days ago has the 3.1-1 version of AlsaTune installed, which I found a bug in and fixed yesterday, if you have downloaded that new Vuu-do max you can just download the new version of AT (3.1-2) which is up on the Sourceforge site, and install it to upgrade. Non-fatal bug, just annoying, check my build thread in the DIY section for details.

Working on rolling up a new max (and a new mini) this weekend, should have them up before Monday.

EDIT: Got the ob-max-z up now, all fixed. Working on the mini soon.

EDIT2: got the mini done too, it's uploaded now.

3-16-2026 New isos uploaded for both max and mini.

Maintenance updates for both max and mini, 90+ packages for the max and 50+ for the mini, including the latest kernel that came out a couple of days ago. A couple of tweaks and one minor bug-fix but that's it, it's looking good, I just hate to have install media out there that's old and needs lots of updates post-install, and it's been almost 3 months since the last iso. Seems like a good schedule for future updates so i'll stick to that unless I do some big changes.

Finally got around to updating the mini, lots of important core packages including a new kernel.
New versions of various Vuu-do utilities, added the VuuNotes app, and swapped Nitrogen out
for VuuPaper. Release notes are now moved to the VuuNotes folder in ~/Documents,
you can read them just by opening VuuNotes.

Updated the ob-max-z, I think maybe now leap-frogging the max and mini makes it easier.
Many updates to key packages including a new kernel, kinda crazy how oldstable is getting this
many updates, possibly folks are starting to see that this is the last good and stable OS
that we're likely to see from upstream. Added lightdm-gtk-greeter-settings for a nice GUI
way to change those settings. Swapped out Nitrogen for VuuPaper, more features and much
smaller size. Updated extensions etc.

Updated the mini, will likely update the max tomorrow!

Some 40+ updates including a new kernel. Also added the Lightdm-gtk-greeter-settings package, a nice
MIYO-type addition. Installed VuuMan too. Fixed an issues with one too many "info.png" icons in
the Oxy2-Zen icon set (deleted the ones in mimetypes). Added an /etc/inittab.d folder to silence
a boot warning. Changed the boot sequence and timing up quite a bit, moved most everything out
of /etc/xdg/autostart into the openbox autostart file, which runs first and offers better control,
set the thumbnail cacher to run last as it takes some time, especially on my daily-driver
which has almost 700 image files. So now everything loads first and then it quietly does it's check
in the background. Cleaned up some cruft that had crept in and some other minor tweaks.
