I was attempting to upgrade one of my PCs,
so I adjusted the sources:
/etc/apt# cat sources.list.d/devuan.sources

I had to switch back once to daedalus, because I forgot to install usrmerge.
EDIT (solution):
If you copy with left/middle mousebutton from one VI to another, there will be spaces added to blank lines, with confuses the sources.list
I used this image on my raspi4:

now I was trying to install the raspi firmware (as I want to use it as my video PC:

Is that a error in the raspi image?
Thanks a lot to all the folks that make this work!!
Did the update just a few days ago.
Thanks everyone, upgrade to excalibur went fine on my old test Notebook.
Will do the update on my produktive machine sometime thisweek.
OK, context in the other post.
Does the problem occur in the instance you dated up from the fresh daedalus install or in both
Thanks for the usrmerge hint.
So I change my sources.list to:
deb http://deb.devuan.org/merged excalibur main contrib non-free non-free-firmware
#deb http://deb.devuan.org/merged excalibur-security main contrib non-free non-free-firmware
#deb http://deb.devuan.org/merged excalibur-updates main contrib non-free non-free-firmwareand upon release I uncomment the 2 lines and do another: ?
apt-get update && apt-get upgrade@Codalunga I just got my StarLabs Byte a few days ago. After some days of struggle I can now use that one with 2 Monitors (as soon as the new cables arrive).
What was a real annoyance: The DP didn't give any signal until I figured out this:
My monitor was connected with a DP - DVI cable at the DP out of my TP460 dock working just fine. The Byte somehow does only get a signal with a direct DP to DP cable.
What a 2nd selling point for StarLabs was (beside the openBIOS): The open warranty. OPening the device for hardware upgrade, doesn't void the warranty.
I removed the WiFi/BT chip in mine.
I tend to upgrade to excalibur. So I du just the usual?
apt-get update && apt-get upgradethen replace daedalus with excalibur in the sources.list and then (I normally run that with no user logged in as root from the first text console)
apt-get update
apt-get upgrade
apt-get dist-upgradeOr are there any extra obstacles with excalibur?
deleting this file helped
~/.config/libreoffice/[1-9]/.lockHI,
I have my new system momentarily running. It might need a newer kernel. Hardware is announced to run with 6.8. and higher.
So I was thinking is there a newer kerne (6.1. is currently provided, if I'm not mistaken) for daedalus?
Or do I upgrade to excalibur already, since it might be become stable soon enough? (bookworm to daedalus was ~2 months)
I recently had problems too. I got my hint in the Xorg log:
/var/log/Xorg.0.logIn my case there were some xserver-xorg-video-* packages missing (fbdev and vesa in my case)
I just installed a new machine, copied my home dir.
When I start libreoffice, it won't stating something of being "still in complain" mode.
As the message is partly garbled in the splash screen, I can't make out what to do with the text snippet:
"--create profile?"
EDIT: Or is there a apparmor config in /etc, which I should sync to the new machine, too?
I was about to update my system but getting errors:
"temporary failure resolving 'deb.devuan.org'"
using the recommended sources list for daedalus.
Is this a known problem?
I got this for the last few hours.
Ah, sorry for not answering. Problem was solved with the next kernel update.
OK, that one didn't worked directly, so I did:

I was just doing the routinely apr update and apt upgrade, but the linux kernel was nit updated:
The following packages have been kept back:
linux-image-amd64I did an apt autoremove, but got the same result with the apt upgrade.
Here is the apt policy:

100 /var/lib/dpkg/statusI did not set any apt policies (at least I think so)
I did plug and unplug the USB input devices (several time, several USB ports, at the docking station as well, as notebook ports directly). Seems all USB ports aren't even powered at that time (using my optical mouse as an indicator: LED on/off?).
What I found is this: (in usr/share/initramfs-tools/)
scripts/local-block/cryptroot
scripts/local-top/cryptroot
But my skills aren't that high on this area to understand what to do in which script (can't pinpoint which is the invocation or if these are the right scripts in the first place).
So I guess I'm stock with using my previous kernel, till there might be a change in the initramfs tools.
What further information should I gather to do a bug report for this?
To clarify things. We are talking LUKS encryption, so that is first thing after boot, if I'm not mistaken.
Also kernel 6.1.0-18-amd64, 6.1.0-27-amd64 does not.
Since the whole USB sub-system seems to be unavailable at that point, I think it might be related to:
https://lists.debian.org/debian-kernel/ … 00231.html
term.log has a bunch of lines like this
W: Possible missing firmware /lib/firmware/i915/..But that should result in either working or not working hardware and not in sometimes not working hardware?
(Plus those were there before)
kernel changed form 6.1.0-18-amd64 to 6.1.0-27-amd64. (give me some minutes to test that)
Previous kernel doesn't has the problem.
Mea culpa.
daedalus.
(Reminder to myself: do not post while having migrane)
I just did the usual routinely "apt update && apt upgrade" on my Lenovo Thinkpad t460p.
Normal setup is: TP under the desk in a dock, USB switch for keyboard/mouse, 2 external monitors, TP shut, internal LCD switched of.
Usually no problem. Now after the upgrade, this behavior:
System is tarting, keyboard working,
Linuy startscreen, still working,
Boot messages starting, power for keyboard and mouse of.
-PW for HDD encryption input (no keyboard)
(after fiddeling the Dock and TP from under the desk including messing up all neatly placed cables,)
HDD PW typed in with the internal keyboard, after which the external keyboard is usable immediately.
Any idea how to fix that?
I'm running 8 Mail accounts in the thunderbird and therefore reluctant to uninstall it completely.
As an addition sometimes I "receive" a bunch of mails with none in my inbox at all.
OK, no idea where this setting came from:
# Restrict access to the admin pages...
<Location /admin>
Require group printer-adminsI never had a group called "printer-admins"
adding "cups-admins" to this does the trick.
I guess putting "lpadmins" there as first action would have done the trick.
I did the following: Look up the inbox on the server (webmail interface).
2 new messages.
Then I did run the "get messages" on my clients thunderbird.
Status bar is showing some strange number of messages (20+)
New messages actually in inbox:2
