A client entered a restaurant, he ordered a soup, when the waiter came with the soup and put it on his table, the client looked at the soup and saw there was a dead fly on his soup, then he called the waiter and told him, "waiter, there's a fly on my soup", the waiter looked at the soup then looked at the client and said to him, "don't worry. we won't charge you extra for the fly"!

Note that this is a rewrite of my previous post here which suffered from my foggy memory . . .

Note that "The Joke Thread" has been unblocked since 2025-02-27. I was rather surprised that no one figured that out. Then a new user unaware of the history gave it a try and brought it back to life.

As long as "The Joke Thread" does not become the most active one day after day like it has in the past, it will remain open.

Note that the "The Joke Thread" was only temporarily "locked". I just pushed some "buttons" and the "pigeons" pecked at the bait. How very Pavlovian of them! It was a fun gotcha!!

Actually, I'd already noticed months ago that the thread was not locked.

I could have posted more then, but why bother?  When the response to a post explaining why one joined Devuan is derision and ad hominem (the latter being equated to "love and joy and cooperation", no less), and the size of a joke thread concerns the administration much more than the endless conspiracy theories and dubious pseudoscience that are equally off-topic and equally "flood" the forum, and the response to the resulting silence is a self-congratulatory "haha I tricked ya", 🤦 ... Let's just say it explains a thing or two about the general lack of participation here, and why there are other places I'd rather spend my time in.

We give a lot of leeway to those who use this forum to beat their favorite drum but contribute little to nothing to Devuan's existence. At some point, enough is enough. I doubt that many forums would have the patience that this thread has enjoyed for so many years.

Memes are about words and wit. A meme is very often a simple analogy or a metaphor. And metaphors are the most powerful form of data compression in the real (not digital) world, the ability to impart large amounts of info with just a few words and a picture is frequently quite amazing.
