Tried Palemoon after reading this thread, and I have to agree, pretty nice, much faster than fizzlefox.
To be fair, it's not the browser's fault so much as it is the people who put content on the internet, there's so much garbage going on when you try to load a page on a busy commercial site.
A simple site like this forum, i'm actually browsing and posting from the little 130 line browser I posted, it's all you need for simple static content.

Users have the option to take control. Between adblock plus and stylish, I never see any of those offensive things. At least not more than once. Even at that FF is a resource hog . . .

In the past couple of weeks, I have been doing some informal experimentation with browsers, and to me it is astonishing what a resource hog FF is. And s l o w . It wasn't always this way, but now it's a very real annoyance. Then you try Palemoon, or Chrome, on the exact same sites, and things fly. I don't know why, but it's impossible to ignore.

Palemoon is very best Browser for the moment...

Running Pale Moon as default, FrankenFox simply is unusable. Chrome is an installed alternative, but quite happy so far with Pale Moon.

Seems like we are in a war against internet advertisers, they are trying to make us watch stuff we don't want, & we are trying to have our browsers ignore & block them.
I used to use Adblock Plus, & it worked - but now, advertisers have found ways around it - so now I am using Adblock Ultimate - the war goes on.
I, too, have lately been looking for a replacement browser.

Have you tried uBlock Origin? It does a fantastic job.
I heard that Microsoft Edge is a great browser!

Yep, it still takes resources and effort to react to and block all that stuff, more effort many times to do that than it is to load the page in the first place, so everything goes twice as slow.
Ads wouldn't be so bad, if they were static. And weren't trying furiously to ram multiple 3rd party tracking cookies down your throat.

Just for info- Palemoon has an extension called Adblock Latitude and when installed look for the little red shield icon in lower left corner of browser to click on and off. At the palemoon.org site under extensions. I find it useful.

and now triying and palemoon are the most stable in:
chorme: said that i not have enough memory ..need some other 643571293 gigas of ram
firefox: slow rendering, too complicated now..
vivaldy : too many GPU usage, most rely on rendering work, complete based html5 web browser derived from chrome work, issues agains http sites
slimjet: too many windoze-like set bind as default search, complety away from FOSS not recomended and have issues on https vs http sites
midory: full of webkit incompatibilityes and crashes, its same as get chromium without tracking of personal data
netsurf: there's its tht a browser? well was good for quick things.. but for moder net no!
so pelmoon seems good now! an old firefox behaviour but not work in older hardware...

I highly recommend uBlock Origin and it's sister addon/tool uMatrix.

netsurf is amazingly fast,...congratulations for the dev.

Didn't expected debian-security will push gtk3 build of 52.2 ESR in Jessie, but they did it. Tought SLE/RHEL plan to do it at 59 ESR point, so looks like a bit to early and no idea why this rush in "stable"
Maybe "Mike is busy and security don't wait" reasons... Anyway:

Pale Moon, less resources hungry than FF, same websurfing experience.
Addons:
Encrypted Web (HTTPS Everywhere's fork)
uBlock Origin (ADBlocker) [thanks to linijkarz for the tip]
uMatrix (Javascript and alikes manager) [again, thanks to linijkarz]Thanks to this thread finally my old laptop can get some relief!
yah, congratulations for Palemoon
Noscript is a best alternative for uMatrix

Perhaps your criteria need adjustment? Some websites just aren't worthy of traffic. Your requirements and priorities may not match everyone else's. Be calm, and observe.

Solved this problem.
about:config >> new >> string
preference name: general.useragent.override.github.com
preference value: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; WOW64; rv:40.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/40.1
You can do this for all broken websites.

Month earler they said "Our focus will be GTK2." and now "Linux focus in UXP will be GTK3, not GTK2."
If i hate something that is when people in a short period of time entirely switch statements... so good bye PM
