A quick note . . . it is advised not to use pkgmaster in sources.list because it is the source that all mirrors sync with. Please use one of the many mirrors offered on https://www.devuan.org/get-devuan instead.
Those are packages with systemd dependency that are prevented from installing. Those systemd-dependent packages that are essential for Devuan are forked by Devuan devs. Devuan-specific as well as forked packages are found here.
If there is a package on that list that you want, you are welcome to contribute to Devuan by forking it.
@HoaS . . . exactly my point. ![]()
And do so at your own risk . . .
pkgmaster.devuan.org is the source from which all other mirrors are synced. Individual users pulling from it can disrupt the syncing and cause delays elsewhere in the pool.
(You might have to replace stable- with chimaera-.)
Yes, in Devuan always use the release name in sources.list to avoid unintended consequences.
I don't know the details. I am only the messenger. Thanks for the thought though. ![]()
Bookkeeping
Ubuntu and Devuan repos are not compatible.
The bitcoin option was removed some time ago.
Note that slim (the default Display Manager for xfce) is not
accessible.Q: why is this so?
I believe that relates to accessibility features for the visually impaired. If I weren't so lazy, I would actually read the Release Notes to confirm.
Wicd is no longer available in Devuan 4 Chimaera having been removed
from Debian Bullseye because of it's dependency on python2 which is now
obsolete.
Someone on the team is attempting to port it to python3. Keep your fingers crossed.
Sorry for the noise.
I think you might be able to do it here: /etc/grub.d/
Or you could switch it out here /usr/share/desktop-base . . . that's where I put them to test the default desktop theme when I'm working on it.
@Ogis1975 . . . Thanks for the kind words.
The version of Devuan I installed is Devuan beowulf 3.0 323mb.
Just curious why not beowulf 3.1.1. Of course with a full upgrade you would eventually get there.
So sorry to hear that . . .
The css cannot be imported as it is specific to the Clearlooks Phenix theme. You'll have to do color substitutions in the theme of your choice. Just grab the colors with a color picker like Gcolor2 (my favorite) and search/replace. That sounds easy but be prepared to do a deep dive.
Hearing that you like the colors just made my day. It took several months of trial and error to get them just right and about 6 months to apply them to all the moving parts including the websites.
Will put a first mention of this here . . . after theming 4 Devuan releases, I'm ready to "retire" so the job is open if anyone wants to take it on going forward.
AisleRiot Solitaire, best card game on linux imo.
Indeed. Occasionally I mess with Swell Foop though. Good for visual spatial acuity.
@zephyr . . . Nice to see you. I wondering why you still have auto.mirror.devuan.org in you sources list even though it is commented out. It has been deprecated for several years so no need to keep it around anymore.
Perhaps this from the Release Notes?
su
The behaviour of su changed in Devuan 3 Beowulf. These changes persist
in Devuan 4 Chimaera. Use su - to get root's path or use the full path
to commands if you use only su. See the following for more information:

Maybe this thread would help.
Spinning rust ftw . . .
Isn't diversity/choice wonderful!
