This was posted as being the watermark.  No peppermint candy there.  Just text on a dark background.  I do keep my brightness at 65% and contrast at 75% though . . .

I'm confused . . . maybe it's my old eyes . . . or maybe I don't understand what a watermark is . . . or maybe I need special xray glasses?

The table on this page might help to clarify things.

You can find stuff.

. . . driver from sid and i use stable

You might be able to backport it to stable.  Don't ask me how.  That's beyond my skill-set.

No need to add Debian repo.  Devuan already has it!

Debian sid = Devuan ceres

#1257 Re: Devuan » Donation bombed » 2022-03-18 01:39:08

I think that zapper and andyprough should create their own forum where they can try to outdo each other's nonsense.  Please stop wasting Devuan resources on irrelevant babble.

Seems you've forgotten this is a GNUinOS - Libre thread not a Trisquel thread.

I just investigated the options HERE and it seems that credit card donations are going through PayPal (yuck) and the the form does indeed ask for a phone number. Is that the option you tried?  I don't know if it's always been that way but I can ask the folks at dyne if they are aware it is set up that way.  That web page hasn't been changed in a long time. PayPal might have changed their procedure or someone would have probably mentioned it before.

This wouldn't work for you?

server (~670 MB): CD1 of a 4 CD set that allows for a complete off-line server/minimal installation. The remaining CDs offer several desktop choices and a limited selection of additional software.

CD2: Xfce (installable from tasksel) and LXDE.
CD3: MATE (installable from tasksel) and Openbox window manager.
CD4: Cinnamon (installable from tasksel) but requires CD2 and CD3 to install.

Fair enough . . . smile I don't know how you find time to read so much or why you'd want to.  But that's another conversation . . .

Thank you Andy for those offerings. I'm sure they will bring comfort to many.

Here's a slightly different perspective and focus.  Monastics from the Abhayagiri Monastery chanting funeral texts that focus on the grinding realities of impermanence and cause and effect:

A recitation of the Paticcasaṃuppāda (Dependent Origination) starts at about 9:02 with the words:

This guide recommends you the use of balenaEtcher or Rufus to write the ISO on a storage media (CD/DVD/USB).

Debian do not recommend those tools and I have seen quite a few problem threads over at forums.debian.net caused by Rufus not burning images correctly.

The recommended technique is

cp devuan.iso /dev/sdX ; sync

Reference: https://www.debian.org/CD/faq/index.en.html#write-usb

I have never seen that command recommended at Devuan and have always used the dd command. These are the methods recommended on the Devuan website:

Writing an image to a CD/DVD or USB drive

Images can be written to a CD or DVD using wodim.

user@hostname:~$ wodim dev=/dev/sr0 -eject filename.iso

All Devuan ISO images are hybrid ISOs and may be written to a USB drive using dd.

root@hostname:~# dd if=filename.iso of=/dev/sdX bs=1M && sync

With all due respect golinux, i am old enough to learn from my mistakes but i dont believe i have made any here in my opinion.

Being unaware is not making a mistake.

I agree and thought my response made that clear.  The point was as you stated above to learn from those experiences and move on . . .
