Don't shoot the messenger. I have never expressed a technical assessment on your issue because I have never used tor in conjunction with a repository. Heck, I've barely used tor at all! Without that experience I am unqualified to have an opinion or comprehend because I have no point of reference. Instead, I have attempted to point you in the direction of those who could better help you sort things out.

Comment out the cdrom media in your sources.list and then synaptic should go to the live repositories.

Yes, it is a cookie. If you come regularly, I think it keeps renewing because I never get logged out of any of the forums I frequent daily.
Never thought of it as keeping one logged in... ?

If you click the option to stay logged in, you won't get bit by the timeout issue.

On the login screen just under where you enter your password. It says:
Log me in automatically each time I visit.
That keeps you logged in if you visit here regularly. I suppose there would eventually be a timeout but certainly not during a session.

I was also confused by that. Debian has a social contract. Devuan has the (almost) no Code of Conduct. Is the poster referring to the Debian or the Devuan document. And what in whichever document does not fit their "personal needs"?

Why on earth would I do that? I hope that your continuing Linux adventures are more successful than it seems your encounter with Devuan was. I guess we'll never know what your issues/problems were that might make you decide to remove it and reclaim your HDD . . .

Basically what the title says. Why is there a website that appears to have an entire copy of the Devuan website. Like, the website is about GMOs or something. It's unrelated to Linux... I think?

Yes. I am part of the team that designs/maintains the Devuan website. The backend is a bit of a hairball so last year I converted it to plain html as an experiment and option to simplify things. I posted it on that old website of mine. In the end, we stayed with the hairball. Just last night I posted a proposal for some subtle color changes for the official ascii release. Note that only that page has the changes. Structural changes are coming soon too.

Hehe... you're right, but there was never any resentment and anger in the first place (as you well know).

I'm just pointing out that if transparency and accountability is desired, then it's best not to cloud things. Otherwise you may as well hit the ban button and not bother yourself with explaining why or keeping an "evidence bag".
Keeping "evidence" is the only way to defend a position. It was just a PITA to have to take 2 screenies, rejoin them yada, yada. I am guilty of being lazy.

He was moderated on the DNG list last year but not the forum.
You should see what went on over at DUF in its early days. Complete anarchy. DUF rose from the exodus of many veteran Debian users years ago after cynwulf himself was banned/suspended. Still a bit of a sore spot, I think.
