thanks ralph, golinux. I will get things organized over the next few days. In regards to color pallete, i dont want to debate that and will be happy to stick with what you have already for Excalibur. Ill be in touch asap.
I can maybe help out with some artwork/theming for excalibur, I know my way around inkscape a little bit.
In regards to this post golinux https://dev1galaxy.org/viewtopic.php?pid=51546#p51546
Here is a few wallpaper only mockups for excalibur in different colors. I just exported them into pngs from inkscape.
@golinux, having a look at that git for the graphics and artwork, is the reason so much is needed to be done due to rebranding from debian to devuan? I mean if its not done would debian artwork and graphics leak into the fork?
What does your xorg.conf look like? Seems strange that it will work with kernel linux-image-6.9.11-amd64, so sounds like a config error where modules are not being loaded correctly. Im no expert on this, just throwing my two cents in.
You probably have a 64 bit machine, that means you need to use the devuan_daedalus_5.0.1_amd64_desktop.iso.
Have a search online for the meaning of i386 and amd64.
Just to make sure what is the output of below command?
lscpu |grep "Architecture"
Im having a hard time trying to understand your issue? Is your machine a i386 or amd64 and what installer-iso did you use, be specific as you can be.
Does your network card support AP mode?

Also see here

I know they are archlinux links but the arch wiki is usually pretty good when it comes to stuff like this.
I think maybe there is option before that step (not listed in the how to on devuan.org), im not really sure as its been awhile but there should be an entry where it says to continue without a bootloader, it might be in the expert install method? You might be better off doing a devuan debootstrap depending on what your main system is. I think there is a how to somewhere in this forum for debootstrap if you do a search.
Im pretty sure the devuan installer has an option to bypass installing a bootloader. What have you experienced so far?
See here...

Go down to step 20
@ron, it seems those 3 packages have hard dependencies on libc6? Im not sure why they wouldnt be installed, seems a bit odd.
@trylak
As per chris2be8 advice, i think you need to also be in the "plugdev" group as well as the "netdev" group.
Im not sure how you would manage networkmanager without polkit, its probably best to install polkitd and reboot.
sudo gpasswd -a tyrlak plugdev
sudo apt install polkitd
reboot
Its generally a good idea to let the forum know what your system specs are, what version of devuan and what desktop environment etc. It sounds like you have a polkit issue, is polkit installed?
@quickfur
As the old saying goes, "common sense is not so common anymore" rings true throughout the millennia. I have read conspiracies that there were possibly dark designs behind the breach that's why the file or whatever got zeroed out before it could be analyzed properly, possibly a fail safe mechanism built in just in case it did what it did last week and crashed millions of pc's, so in effect no one would get any value from the kernel crash dumps.
You may need to tweak some settings in the Makefile.config to suit your setup, It could be something to do with file UTF8 encoding.
Also in the Makefile.config there is an option to build gtk2 only which might help. Im just guessing here, the developer would have better answers than I would.
Emelfm2 Makefile.config

Looks like you may need libmagic-dev development files. Have you installed those?
https://packages.debian.org/bookworm/libmagic-dev
Install that and see if you can build it again.
Im not really sure about backward compatibility of older versions of gtk on newer gnu/linux systems.
You may have better luck with emelfm2 which should run on any gtk2 or gtk3 based system.
Not sure about gtk 1.2, i think only tiny core linux supports that these days.
scratch that, tiny core uses fltk not gtk.
My doctor said I was overweight and asked me if I'd ever even attempted a push-up.
I said "Hey doc, I know I'm out of shape, but suggesting that I wear a bra is just insulting."
So its just a matter of changing /etc/apt/sources.list.d/mullvad.list from daedalus to bookworm?
I was reading this "might" be due to a power related issue, is the ssd powered? Maybe need a better usb adapter cord or something too.
If you can, use lsusb to diagnose power.
Get your device ID like im doing below for my fresco usb hub device with whatever your device is called. You can just use lsusb to get all devices in a list find it then follow along below.
# lsusb | grep "Fresco"
Bus 002 Device 002: ID 1d5c:5001 Fresco Logic USB3.0 Hub
# lsusb -d 1d5c:5001 -v 2>/dev/null | grep 'MaxPower'
MaxPower 0mA
If you're lucky, the hard drive reports temperature in degrees centigrade.
smartctl -a /dev/sda | awk '/Temperature/ { print $10 }'
Might be a bit of difference with nvme and sata disks. I put a colon next to "Temperature" to get just the main temp, as my nvme drive lists warning and critical temps as well. But yeah this works well, same sort of readout you can get from hddtemp.
sudo smartctl -a /dev/nvme0n1 | awk '/Temperature:/ { print $0 }'

AI Is Fueling Scam Book Production
Based on the complaints we have received, summaries, workbooks, and guides appear to be the category most commonly exploited by the scammers. Low-quality works like these have long been a problem on Amazon because it is easy to piggyback on the success of legitimate titles and sell “companion” books. Fair use case law has found that “companion” books that have a great deal of analysis and commentary and do not take too much from the original work are fair use, so Amazon allows many of them to remain on the site. A few years ago, the Authors Guild, recognizing the impact these books can have on legitimate sales, convinced Amazon to require sellers of summary books to include a conspicuous disclaimer on the listing page and cover, disclosing that the book is a summary or guide and not a substitute for the original work.
How many baby boomers does it take to screw in a light bulb?
None. They'll leave it how it is, expect millennials to clean up after them, and call them selfish and entitled when they get called on it.
A blind woman got on a bus. Sadly, all the seats were taken.
A man noticed that no one else on the bus was willing to give up their seat for the blind woman, so he kindly guided her to his seat and took a standing spot. As the bus started up, the man frowned at the others for their selfishness.
Later that day, the man came home in tears, covered in bruises.
"What's the matter?" asked the man's wife.
"I lost my job as a bus driver."

Who knows what these assholes have planned. Do you watch the why files ? The last episode was a good one regarding DARPA. Technology in the mainstream is usually lagging behind anything the 3 letter agencies already have.

Natural selection does its thing all the time and at all ages. This is not news . . .
Luckily we have a thing called "natural ability" to help others in such situations, e.g. "inherited behavior".
