I don't know, but I'm with you, IIRC it's a Microsoft deed.
Howto: My Devuan Installation (netinstall)
http://dev1galaxy.org/viewtopic.php?id=1638
Just installed Beowulf, tried to install xfburn and brasero, i get this error:
"Reading state information... Error!
E: Unable to parse package file /var/lib/apt/extended_states (1)"
any ideas??
I installed mine from the www.brave.com site -- No problems whatsoever...
I got antix 19.2 with runit in one of my other partitions, runs great.
In my opinion, is superior and faster than the other init systems.
The Devuan devs should incorporate it soon.
bobo@foo:~$ sudo apt install runit-init

Thanks, heavy.
it did not work for me, server error, purged runit and re-installed sysvinit, rebooted and got sysvinit back.
The only options during install (Expert) is sysvnit and openrc.
Install GRUB on the first OS, install the second OS WITHOUT a bootloader, reboot, go to the first OS, and as ROOT:
# update-grub
Reboot, and choose from the menu the OS you want.
Boy, it's good to be back on Devuan and apt-get...
after hopping around for a while, I kept Slackware and Slackel, matter of personal knowledge I think I need.
There are many slackware videos in youtube, for my money, the best are from an old guy named 'eznix'.
He's got 2 videos on slackware, configuration on one, and installation of slapt-get and glapt and sbotools, in case
somebody wants to learn something new or old?
Congrats, desktop looks great!
I'm curious. Did you have to manually enable DRM content, or does Void build Firefox/Chromium with that enabled by default?
No idea...
If it's enabled by default, this means that your browser automatically downloaded and installed the closed source, proprietary Widevine DRM plugin onto your PC without asking.
I installed chromium, updated all the repos, and then, installed 'chromium-widevine'
Logged into Netflix with my user/passwd and that was it, chrommium-widevine is in the repos.
I apologize for the delay, wasn't aware of your post.
Yeah, well, I'm guilty of being a minimalist and a tight wad, I still drive my mom's 1965 VW bug (made in Germany)...what can I tell you? My idea of installing, is to burn a CD not a DVD. That's why I love FreeBSD and OpenBsd, they got this 'boot only' cds (pretty small) and do everything thru the net.
I do a Devuan net install, install nothing, reboot, and THEN, install what I want:
http://dev1galaxy.org/viewtopic.php?id=1638
My post-installation sound configuration is like this:
$ sudo apt-get install audacious audacity mpv mplayer alsa-tools alsa-utils
then I launch alsamixer:
$ alsamixer
unmute with letter m, adjust volumes, press Esc to get out of alsamixer, go to youtube and play my favorite tunes and raise or lower the volume with my keybinds in my window manager.
In icewm, jwm, or ratpoison.
In icewm:
#Sound
key "Ctrl+Down" amixer -q set Master 9%- # lower volume
key "Ctrl+Up" amixer -q set Master 9%+ # raise volume
Ctrl + Up/Down keys do the trick... that's it!
Later,
Dear All, dear Devs,
Counter-check everything is like you want!
1. Check 'OpenRC' is up and running:
pidof /sbin/init && echo "openrc" || echo "other"
Output:
1
openrc
Thanks to all you guys (Terence, golinux, fmithred, et.al.) I followed your instructions to the letter, reinstalled Devuan, moved to Ceres and got openrc, kudos to the devs and you too. THANKS!
By the way, small typo: there is a quotation mark missing after the word 'other', no biggie...
Just a heads-up, ceres is running flawlessly, kernel 4.19 is running like a Deere.
Today I was able to watch Netflix in Void linux
Void Linux (very good)
FWIW, this is what i got in my .bash_aliases
alias adu="sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get dist-upgrade"
alias agi="sudo apt-get install"
alias as="apt-cache search"
alias ash="apt-cache show"
I have sudo configured with the NOPASSWD option
Altoid: xfe when you right-click has: Move to, Copy to, Symlink to
is that what you're looking for?
Micronaut, I recently had the same problem and solved with synaptic.

# apt-get install aumix menu alsa-lib alsa-plugins alsa-utils
$ alsamixer
unmute channels with letter m
It seems you're supposed to launch it as root (sudo):
bobo@foo:~$ ps_mem
Sorry, root permission required, or specify pids with -p
