Isn't there some warning about not making a frankendebian?
Such a warning exists. Here he is
https://wiki.debian.org/DontBreakDebian
And here's a quote
Repositories that can create a FrankenDebian if used with Debian Stable:
Debian testing release (currently bullseye)
Debian unstable release (also known as sid)
Ubuntu, Mint or other derivative repositories are not compatible with Debian!
Ubuntu PPAs and other repositories created to distribute single applications
Here is my list
Firefox for browsing and email
apvlv for PDFs
feh for image viewing
imagemagick for image manipulation
ffmpeg for music
ffmpeg for videos
wordgrinder and sc for documents
nvim for editing
alacritty for terminal and starting stuff (Yes. I am a cave man)
transmission-gtk for torrents
ranger for file browsing, I use the (bash) shell for file management.
Finally, have the Chimaera deepsea theme together. Am now getting all the other parts in place. Enjoy your dive to the deepsea floor!
I like it very much!
Yes, use default (sysvinit). It is rock solid and easy to use. Another choose (runit and openrc) is for those who know what they are doing.
I'm going back to Windows.
Good luck with that
Packages from external sources might alter files belonging to other packages, configure the system in unexpected ways, introduce vulnerabilities, cause licensing issues. Once packages from unofficial sources are introduced in a system it can become difficult to pinpoint the cause of breakage especially if it happens after months. Anyway. This is your system. Do what you want
I use Amfora https://github.com/makeworld-the-better-one/amfora Amfora aims to be the best looking Gemini client with the most features... all in the terminal.
Also, you can check the simplest one- the AV-98 client. It's written in Python and runs in a terminal. AV-98 has no "strict dependencies", i.e. it will run and work without anything else beyond the Python standard library.
Here link https://tildegit.org/solderpunk/AV-98
And here screen:
What would you recommend doing?
The kernel probably did log some information, but they never made it on time to the disk. If your laptop has got a serial port, set the kernel to use it as console (add console=ttyS[X] as boot option); you will see the messages there from another machine as it happens. If not, you can use an Ethernet port and try netconsole.
Thank you for the answer, Nili.
Meanwhile the latest version is v6.7. I'm not clear why it hasn't enter on sid/testing for months?. Well, perhaps it was explained somewhere, but i have missed finding it.
Great screen. As always. By the way, you may be able to compile the latest version of this program. You can compile with your user rights .... but you may need to install many dependencies (compiler, etc.) so I don't know if it's worth it.
Nice girl, OalSkuul
And why do you use the sudo command for editing conky config in user dir?
Thank you for the info, Vernon
It is possible that this error has now been fixed. According Debian Security Advisory DSA-4714-3
The previous update for chromium released as DSA 4714-2 contained a flaw in the service worker implementation. This problem causes the browser to crash when a connection error occurs. Updated chromium packages are now available that correct this issue. For the stable distribution (buster), this problem has been fixed in version 83.0.4103.116-1~deb10u3.
Indeed, the 2nd bug report.
Hi! You may launch chromium whith the -g option from a terminal: once in the debugger, you "start" and wait for a crash in the browser while you navigate the web. I suppose, the debugger in the terminal should give you a trace of the crash.
Devuan Beowulf 3.0.0 32-bit
Chromium 83.0.4103.116All extensions are deactivated.
What could be the cause of this?
Maybe, this is related to this?
Thank you, Nili!
I try to keep things very minimal, with almost nothing but my windows on screen (not even a desktop background) and just using Openbox's features, not adding a lot of docks, panels, icons etc. Not even a desktop wallpaper. This minimalism is what I like about Openbox - there's less to distract me and there's also less to configure and manage and less to go wrong. But I do add a handful of essentials, including a "Great Circle" Conky config, a system tray, an application launcher (rofi) an Openbox theme (Arc-Dark), and my own Openbox configuration with my own keyboard shortcuts.
1. Ancient installer that looked like a bad DOS knock-off.
Back to Xubuntu.
I expect a modern OS to have a graphic installer and to be able to detect my WiFi card.
Somehow it’s nonsense. Complete nonsense. Most importantly, the installer does his job and does it perfectly. If you want beauties, you can go back to the land of Windows, but do you need it? I will repeat my self. This installer works great.
I can tell you about myself. I have no delays (in updates).
Nice scrots there miyo, ogis.
Thank you.
no dbus sort of well just some libraries, firefox seems to work fine.
Good idea. I need to come up with something like that.
Debian Buster.
