very much appreciate Cameron Kaiser's latest:
strongly encourage visits to Cameron Kaiser's website:
also see What's In The Retro Room and Server Room
as well as the fun had by all unboxing the Raptor Talos II
or perhaps you'd enjoy a trip down the gopher hole
enjoy!
thought of another interesting webpage(not Cameron Kaiser):
https://www.parkytowers.me.uk/thin/
but what triggered the sudden loss of audio(since it was working perfectly before)?
thinking about small binaries
i was checking to see if there was a newer version of EasyOS(which is now based on Devuan) and this rabbithole was the result:

someday i would like to breakdown 4.4.10 Damn Small Linux(the last one before Robert Shingledecker went full-time on Tiny Core Linux) just to see if it could be somewhat modernized. also see Slitaz and the various Puppy Linux spins.
yes, i know dsl is supposedly "back" but it isn't small anymore(not that anything is these days).
major kudos and hat-tip to @Andre4freedom for expending their finite, valuable time and energy to actually post...what the rest of us were thinking.
@kapqa, had problems with claws-mail rss-plugin not performing properly and so now use newsboat
this thread makes me want to dig out my Q6600 and Q8200 quad-core machines...iirc they still have beowulf on spinning rust...sounds like a rainy day endeavour.

pro-tip: if you toggle to "reader view" in firefox you can then fairly easily select all and cut/paste into a simple text document/file for offline reading(roughly a 150KB file / 24 page pdf)
more: the link referenced in the previous post is probably not the best offered at yt(commenters complained of numerous ads/commercials through the near 4hr audio-only "video" although i didn't personally sample said 4hrs)
another possible resource:
with reference to libreboot, this should probably be a required document:
speaking of surprises reminded me of this regarding ACL breakage:

thanks to everyone who is talented enough to continue to investigate "the borking"
hopefully a fix can be found

Anytime Bob!
this reminded me of a known expliot/vulnerability that has been around for awhile:
always good to keep a reasonable threat detection posture.

looks like mdadm has been in debian/ubuntu since at least debian 3 and ubuntu 5.10 based on this webpage:
https://www.howtoforge.com/linux_software_raid
so it is possible that an original or a remix may/might possibly cause these failures/issues
using DDG Lite and searching for ubuntu 8.04 mdadm finds numerous results, just one of which is:
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/BootDegradedRaid
which appears to have similar questions regarding out of the box operations
@fsmithred, fortunately there would have been few of these "situations" however it is "non-zero" and one must wonder how many borked systems were never accurately diagnosed regarding the exact cause of failure(after all, the innocent live-distro user believes wholeheartedly that booting their liveusb thumbdrive in an unknowing/unsuspecting owners/users machine doesn't change anything on the computer itself...because that is what the distros claim...a claim we now know is sometimes false)
before starting a new thread(and potentially requesting it to be a frontpage sticky) i wanted to clarify something
(mostly to @fsmithred given admin/elevated-status/mod/etc. but @all as well)
if i understand this correctly there may be millions of live-cd/dvd/usb/etc distros existing out there globally.......
that.....
bork the booting of an uncertain number of machines owned/used by an unknown number of unknowing victims?
seems like the makings of a good commentary on arstechnic, hacker news, reddit, slashdot, etc...
hmmm.....
i'll be the first to admit that i was unaware that many/most/who_knows? of currently circulating live-distros(cd/dvd/usb/etc), claiming to be completely safe to boot up on any machine without changing _anything_ on that physical computer, instead...
bork it?
i do not think that the vast majority of casual live-distro users(past/present/future) are aware of this potential issue.
in other words, i guess i really want to be wrong about this. hoping anywho.
edited to turn it down a couple notches...squirrels and coffee you know...
did you ever fix this?
our email journey/saga starts at aol and ends at claws-mail

yes, uninstall yt-dlp via apt or synaptic BEFORE manually installing the newest version please.
EasyOS is by Barry Kauler(original Puppy Linux creator but has since passed the steering levers on to others) but IMHHO it is better
