Please the link https://git.devuan.org/groups/devuan-doc seems no have activity.. but the sheet sayd "several".. i only see two sources... debian and the "inactive" link or i mean no activity!
Why? There is currently no useful information there. A final version of the Quick Overview lives here on the website:
https://devuan.org/os/
Please read more carefully. I did not use the word 'destructive'. Why would you think that YOUR bugs would be top priority for anyone but YOU!
jajaja dont want to make a change!
Well, there you have it. If you don't like it feel free to go elsewhere.
i search a little i not the only one complaints with the theme...
So what? Nothing is ever 100% pro or con. This is life. Please get over it and move on.
You have the freedom to choose whatever colors you like by adding custom styles to your browser.
I think you completely misunderstood what I was trying to say. That would mirror the fact that I (and others) understand very little of what you write. But even though the content is garbled, your combative, aggressive, arrogant attitude is clear and inappropriate. Maybe you need a time out . . .
Or you can stop bitching and start doing something constructive to undo what is being done . .
If that is an official Devuan installation image, then why isn't it to be found in the Devuan release archive?
@msi . . . It is here at the link that Pekman provided above. It is one of the netboot images. No reason to single it out for a special mention that I can see.
Curious: Your first post lists 3 repositories with a prefix of deb-src.
You would only need deb-src if you are compiling packages.
Furthermore, Debian and Devuan are not exactly the same, so I anticipate differences exist or will soon come to exist.
Devuan would not exist with changes to the core of how Debian works. Currently the number of packages involved is relatively small but will increase as Debian/Gnome continues down the rabbit hole.
I have never used /etc/apt/sources.list.d and use synaptic all the time . . .
You should not have jessie in your sources. Golinux pasted jessie sources by mistake and neither you nor I noticed it. Didn't it seem odd to you that you were adding jessie sources after you removed them to upgrade to ascii?
Oops . . . sorry about that . . .
@fsmithred . . . Thanks for fixing my misstep . . .
Please format with BBCode!!
I have a gksu synaptic launcher stacked in the Xfce panel so never have to open from the menu or desktop.
Ditto other root accessible apps.
That is what is recommended for jessie on the homepage of devuan.org:
deb http://auto.mirror.devuan.org/merged jessie main
deb http://auto.mirror.devuan.org/merged jessie-updates main
deb http://auto.mirror.devuan.org/merged jessie-security mainHere are the same ones for ascii:
deb http://auto.mirror.devuan.org/merged ascii main
deb http://auto.mirror.devuan.org/merged ascii-updates main
deb http://auto.mirror.devuan.org/merged ascii-security mainYou might do better using 'auto' rather than 'us' mirror
This just posted on #devuan:
<batmore> golinux, fsmithred, rrq: I checked out Amazon Web Services, Devuan-1.0-TLS by maurorappa... Amazon image for people to use within AWS env. Very nice installation and setup. Far and away better than my AWS instance. The docs for the image are straight forward and correct. You end up with a usable simple install of Devuan Jessie 1.0 with TLS effective (security). I recommend it as the base, goto AWS AMI image to use within Amazon clo
<batmore> golinux, fsmithred, rrq: for reference... the aws ami image I produced was an adaption of an earlier Debian Wheezy, that was upgraded to Devuan Jessie v1.0. Mine ends up using xilinux for boot rather than grub(2). Mine is simpler, but maurorappa's image is more true to current Devuan Jessie setup/config. cheers
Well done maurorappa!! This is a great addition to our image library.
And now Spanish has been added to the list!
mini.iso => 40MB
I'm not seeing that in the Devuan repos. Link?
minimal.iso is missing In Available images
No, it's there - Minimal Live (~300MB) - unless you're thinking of something else . . .
Hello,
I would like to donate a amount of money on behalf of my company. Will I receive a statement or document I can put in my accountancy?
Many thanks for your work on Devuan.
Issa
Hi gorisis . . .
Thank you for supporting Devuan! If you need a special receipt other than the one from transferring funds from your account, you should talk to jaromil at freedom at devuan dot org to see if that's possible.
@keos . . . yes, that should do it. Note that the instructions from the website point to:
/etc/apt/sources.list.d/devuan-ascii.listWhich is an alternate location to:
/etc/apt/sources.listYou could possibly have the sources in two locations!
Well, MXLinux handles it this way. So I assume that Antix might be based on that method. IOW they only install sysvinit according to Debian's method leaving all systemd entanglements present.
You might also find this discussion instructive.
From the website at https://devuan.org/os/etc/apt/sources.list :
Move to ascii (testing)
cat > /etc/apt/sources.list.d/devuan-ascii.list <<EOD
# /etc/apt/sources.list.d/devuan-ascii.listdeb http://auto.mirror.devuan.org/merged ascii main
deb-src http://auto.mirror.devuan.org/merged ascii main
deb http://auto.mirror.devuan.org/merged ascii-updates main
deb-src http://auto.mirror.devuan.org/merged ascii-updates main
deb http://auto.mirror.devuan.org/merged ascii-security main
deb-src http://auto.mirror.devuan.org/merged ascii-security main
EOD
IOW, just change your sources list to point to ASCII.
Jessie, ASCII, Ceres??? And please use BBCode to enclose the messages.
Which forums (plural) are you referring to? the dev1galaxy and possibly the discourse.devuan.org?? I was under the impression hellekin(sic) was dropping the
maintenance of it.-- so it would be a historical record from now on.
Nice to see that you made it to the forum garyz.dev1. Yes, that is a bit confusing. talk.devuan.org is now read-only but wasn't when this thread was started. Hopefully it can remain as an historical archive in some format.
I am new at IRC, but is someone monitoring the d-dev channel ? 24 hours - or is it logged so I can drop a line and check back later or leave my email?
Someone is always logged into the #devuan- channels. I am on maybe 18 hours a day. but not always in front of the computer. You can leave a question on #devuan and then check the botbot logs later to see if it's been answered.
I ask because I went to the #d1g-users several times and found no one (I assume)[could have been my drum-roll entrance!]
TIA for any light you may shed --(OR others)
#d1g-users has hardly had any traffic since we got it going. You'll have a better chance of catching our attention if you call us by name like you did on #devuan yesterday.
. . .i can see that the task in installer of Devuan are related to the installer sources itsef right? how its the process for and where i must change the desktop choice?
I did not make those changes myself but watched the process from the sidelines. I don't know that there is a howto for that anywhere. It's a complicated process that I understand starts with rootskel and rootskel-gtk. They are in the project list on this forum or search for them directly on git . . .
