I was about to update my system but getting errors:
"temporary failure resolving 'deb.devuan.org'"
using the recommended sources list for daedalus.
Is this a known problem?
I got this for the last few hours.

Yep, DNS issues for some folks, happens to me too. Search the forums for threads and there are solutions.
For me I just changed to the closest fastest direct mirror for me (midwest US) which is:
deb http://gnlug.org/pub/devuan/merged/ daedalus main contrib non-free non-free-firmware
deb http://gnlug.org/pub/devuan/merged/ daedalus-updates main
deb http://gnlug.org/pub/devuan/merged/ daedalus-security main
