Re: Show your desktop (rebooted)

LOL! I totally forgot about those dependencies. If you had Clearlooks-Phenix-DarkPurpy or ascii desktop-base installed it should have pulled them in.  The packagers take care of all that when my job is finished:
gtk2-engines
gtk2-engines-xfce
gtk3-engines-xfce

Note that I have not yet gotten to the OpenBox theme so it's still darkpurpy palette.

Just last night my beowulf lost the ability to put a background on the desktop.  Still trying to sort that.

The windows theme is based on Miss Robot XFCE and the icons on the Vimix theme.
I changes the colors and redesigned some of the icons.

I'm going to create a GTK2/GTK3 theme later to create a uniform look and feel. I use the Awaita-dark for now.

Devuan beowulf booting with systemd as PID1:

systemd.png

Unfortunately though I can't get any input devices to load for X so it's console only (the same situation occurs if I boot with sysvinit in Debian buster).

I had to install a version of eudev without the postrm & prerm install scripts and remove the eulogind package in a chroot (from Alpine Linux) and a few other corrective measures.

Don't worry folks, it was all done in a btrfs snapshot — I still have my original, fully functional beowulf system smile

Thank you! Like using Pithos and it allows to build your own custom listening pleasure. Mostly into the British Rock & Blues Super Groups and Progressive Rock/Jazz Fusion sound!

Miss having a turntable, very envious of those who do and vinyl to boot, looking for a good deal since vinyl is making a comeback! cool

Re: Show your desktop (rebooted)

That looks great T-wax...thanks for sharing!

To make an .iso...

1. Open the file manager as root, and go to /usr/share/applications

Find the Refracta Installer, right click on it, and choose to open it with your text editor.
Find the line NoDisplay=true
Place a # in front of that line, then Save and Close the file.
That should make the Installer appear in your Menu.

2. Optional, but you may want to run Bleachbit and Bleachbit (as root) to shave some size off of the .iso.

If you do run them, reboot your computer after doing so.

3. Open the Terminal, and enter...

sudo refractasnapshot

(use su if you prefer)

a) You'll be greeted with some information. Use your down arrow key to scroll further down if needed.

b) Press the Q key on your keyboard to move to the next step. I can't remember if you have to hit Enter on your keyboard after pressing the Q key.

c) When prompted, you'll want to choose option 1, so type in the number 1 and hit Enter on your keyboard.

d) When prompted, you can change the name that will appear on the Live System's grub screen. Change it if you want. Hit Enter on your keyboard.

It will then begin the process of making the .iso. Be patient. Depending on how much is on your system, it could take a while. Leave the terminal open the entire time. You'll be notified when the .iso is complete with a message that says "All finished!"

You can then find the .iso in your Home folder in the snapshot folder. You'll need to go to the Filesystem option in the file manager, click on the Home folder, and you'll see the snapshot folder there.

Thanks again, and good luck! smile

I got 2 SSDs on my box, Devuan the default, and Freebsd on the second one.
My wife likes Netflix, so Devuan is her ticket. I like Devuan's simplicity, good job devs!
I got ratpoison on both.
