WOW! Writing this from the CROWZ Openbox version! ![]()
How do you pack so much stuff into such a small .iso?!?!? ![]()
...and how do you get things like Synaptic to open with pkexec?!?!? Does it have something to do with this...
/usr/lib/policykit-1-gnome/polkit-gnome-authentication-agent-1 &...and how do you get a 64bit with the items running at start-up to boot up at +/- 125 MBs of RAM?!?!?
...and how do you... ![]()
An absolutely great job zephyr. I'm in awe! ![]()
Now to try out your other versions as soon as I have time. ![]()
I have been Devuanated, and my practice in the art of Devuanism shall continue until my Devuanization is complete. Until then, I will strive to continue in my understanding of Devuanchology, Devuanprocity, and Devuanivity.
Veni, vidi, vici vdevuaned. I came, I saw, I Devuaned. ![]()

Thank you for doing a test drive of CROWZ ob.
How do you pack so much stuff into such a small .iso?
Use squashfs for compression during the build to reduce the size, exact percentage not sure perhaps between 12-18%
...and how do you get things like Synaptic to open with pkexec?
Use gksudo to open Synaptic, however pkexec is a graphical frontend of PolicyKit. Use...
/usr/lib/policykit-1-gnome/polkit-gnome-authentication-agent-1 &to help facilitate mounting other drives on my machine, primarily with Thunar although it may work with others. Also requires gvfs to work as needed.
..and how do you get a 64bit with the items running at start-up to boot up at +/- 125 MBs of RAM?
This is where Devuan takes all the glory, wasn't that way with Debian. Just a layman's view but think systemd has a lot of bloat and consume resources. Also, an approach in using smaller, simpler applications that just get the job done.
Most of all is having a mentor like Ozi as a good advisor and keeping FOSS as a compass. ![]()
Thank you for your kind and thoughtful words, we all do what we do for our users. Besides, Dan you are the one who has Devuan's only Awesome Wm release! ![]()
