Debian posts warnings about using testing with regard to security.
https://wiki.debian.org/Status/Testing
says "... If you want to have a secure (and stable) server you are strongly encouraged to stay with stable."
Would that apply to running Devuan 4 at this point in its development cycle?

Yes.
What economists call over-production is but a production that is above the purchasing power of the worker, who is reduced to poverty by capital and state.

Debian testing is now "Bookworm" which will be the base for Devuan 5 "Daedalus".
Devuan 4 "Chimaera" is based on Debian "Bullseye" which is now stable.
Note that if you use "testing" in your sources.list, you will find yourself upgraded to "Bookworm"/"Daedalus" which is basically Ceres at this point.

Thank you. I have installed Devuan from the chimaera_4.0.beta-20210816_amd64_netinstall iso and so far it is working great for me. I plan to just stick with it. My sources.list just points to the chimaera repos.
Will it eventually just morph into the release by doing the updates?

Yes. And it's almost there. The desktop theme is still partly broken and there may still be some bugs in the installer isos. I don't think there's much else that needs to be done. Oh yeah. Write the docs.
