Are you sure you aren't confusing the minimal-live and desktop-live isos
Is there a live iso with an actual desktop?
Yes. The desktop-live.
All available isos are described at https://www.devuan.org/get-devuan The two you mentioned are quite different:
desktop-live (1.2 GB): Explore the default Xfce desktop before installing. Then install easily and quickly from the live session using the refractainstaller. Firmware is installed but can easily be removed.
minimal-live (~460 MB): A full-featured, console-based recovery tool with a focus on accessibility for visually-impaired and blind users. Uses the refractainstaller.
Did it ever exist? Perhaps my memory is failing but I don't remember ever hearing of DevuanDog . . .

Maybe a hardware issue?
Welcome to Devuan and thank you for your offer to improve Devuan's language accessibility. Translations were discussed internally several years ago when several "official" and a few unofficial translations popped up. Eventually all those efforts disappeared. Why? The problem with human translation is that the site is not static and to keep on top of the changes requires constant attention. That being said, perhaps it's time for Devuan to revisit the possibility of providing translations.
I believe that the answer is in this README.
Your assessment is correct. We are Debian without systemd. If someone wants to port, package and maintain MythTV, it could reside in our git but unlikely to become part of our main distribution.
Devuan is not blocking access but it is recommended that users not use pkgmaster directly because it can impede updating of the devuan mirrors. Maybe try deb.devuan.org or pick a specific mirror from the mirror list.
@kuleszdl . . . so is a search engine. ![]()
@kuleszdl . . . Are you aware that Debian is currently involved in another GR which is political not technical? No way I would leave this haven of peace and sanity . . .
Do we really need TWO music threads? I am considering merging with the other one at HoaS' suggestion. Don't be surprised if that happens.
Silence is golden.
I would show you if I could figure out how to take a snapshot of it
Put it in a vm and take a screenshot from the host.
FWIW, I have been sharing that link since it was penned nearly 7 years ago. It seems that the assimilation is nearing completion.
Some of the package mirrors also seem to offer ftp and rsync. If that is not the case, that file should be edited.
In all the years I've been here, I've never heard any discussion about accessing the repos via ftp and on the website's "Packages" page only http and https are mentioned. However, several of the the mirrors in the round-robin offer ftp. I think you'd have to chose one of those to test ftp.
Just to let you know that the Devuan default theme has a lightdm background. This one is from the upcoming chimaera:
You stated in the book thread that your studies killed your "whole enjoyment of reading for pleasure or intellectual stimulation". Though it doesn't seem to have killed an abundant stream of mental proliferation . . .
Sorry couldn't resist . . . ![]()
The future will be what it will be when it becomes the present which is actually all there is. Everything else is mental fiction that we seem to think is reality but isn't.
Welcome to Devuan.
That's quite entertaining. We must be doing something right to warrant that attention. ![]()
I suspected that switching files out might break other things and was going to start investigating after a good night's sleep. Looks like sgage and fsmithred and ToZ on the Xfce forum saved me the headache. Gtk-3 is such a pox . . .
golinux wrote:[edit] Actually you probably need to use those files from Clearlooks-Phenix-purpy not darkpurpy. You can find them here
Yes! That did it. I used the above-mentioned css files from purpy, from the link you provided. I will try to analyze it tomorrow, but it's bedtime. Thanks for your efforts!!!
Excellent! IIUC, Mate is built on gnome2 which still uses gtk-2 so would choke on the gtk-3 in the more recent versions.
@sgage . . . does the ascii darkpurpy theme work OK on Mate? If yes, try replacing the gtk-widgets.css, applications.css and gtk-widgets-img.css in deepsea with those from darkpurpy. There is one color change towards the end of gtk-widgets.css that you'll want to keep from deepsea but the rest can probably fall back to the earlier gtk version.
