is it possible that libgtk3-nocsd0 would help?
Maybe. Here's some relevant info that may be helpful:

The first comment shown in the comments section offers a potential solution.
EDIT:
If gsettings is not installed, install libglib2.0-bin.
For example:
# aptitude install libglib2.0-bin
Hi Andy,
Are you still using Bedrock?
You are correct. This is what my Daedalus-based Refracta system is showing:

Description: Xorg X server - core server
The Xorg X server is an X server for several architectures and operating systems, which is derived from the XFree86 4.x series of X
servers.
The Xorg server supports most modern graphics hardware from most vendors, and supersedes all XFree86 X servers.
More information about X.Org can be found at: <URL:https://www.x.org>
This package is built from the X.org xserver module.
Homepage: https://www.x.org/
I also checked the apt cache for recent debs:
$ ls -l /var/cache/apt/archives |grep xserver-xorg
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 1365092 Oct 26 09:56 xserver-xorg-core_2%3a21.1.7-3+deb12u2devuan1_amd64.deb

-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 214892 Mar 23 2023 xserver-xorg-input-synaptics_1.9.2-1+b1_amd64.deb
This is the relevant Debian security advisory:
https://www.debian.org/security/2023/dsa-5576-2
According to that web page, the xserver-xorg-core package in Daedalus is two versions behind.
Alpine Linux still supports 32-bit (i686) systems:

Unfortunately, both articles are now out of date, so you'll need to ignore Debian and the Debian derivatives listed in both articles.
Falkon piqued my interest but as soon as I found out it was KDE that was it.
Falkon might be a good choice for those people who are using LXQt (or KDE).
I actually installed KDE once in its early days. It didn't last long for the reasons mentioned above and that everything was so 'twitchy' and I would be spending too much time turning off all that ADD-inducing garbage . . .
Several years ago I used an online builder to create a liveCD of openSUSE with a KDE desktop. It was so bloated and slow that it was essentially unusable.
You can probably block Javascript on pages, but then the necessary functions will not work.
That is only true if you use a heavy-handed approach, such as disabling Javascript completely or using an extension like NoScript (with default settings).
I use these extensions:
uBlock Origin
NoScript (with scripts allowed globally).
With that combination, breakage is rare. And when it does occur, it is easily fixed. I usually disable uBlock Origin on websites that involve transactions, like banking and shopping websites, as a proactive measure.
NoScript in the above combination may appear to be redundant, but it's not. Although uBlock Origin does most of the work, NoScript provides protection against cross-site scripting attacks.
I had to put this project on the back burner for awhile, but recently started working on it again. I went ahead and installed the latest Refracta (based on Daedalus) on this laptop. The keyboard seems to work just fine, but the touchpad doesn't work, and none of the solutions I have tried have worked. Investigating further, I have discovered that the touchpad isn't even being detected.
Another person with this problem has looked into the code and believes that many of these Lenovo laptops have a bug in their ACPI firmware. I suspect that he may be correct because I have noticed that, when using Refracta, the screen never sleeps. It is always on, even when I have not used the laptop for fifteen or twenty minutes (or more).
Since I basically reached a dead end on this (at least for now), I decided to see what Windows could tell me about this touchpad. Using a device information utility that I found in the directory for the touchpad driver I obtained this information:

Since the problem appears to be an ACPI firmware bug, that information may not be very helpful, but maybe some clever person has found a workaround.
Are you saying that you are now able to retrieve email from your Gmail account without using OAuth2?
I tried to verify the GPG signature using the procedure that I found here:
https://get.refracta.org/files/beowulf/README.txt
Apparently, some of the info is outdated because this step failed:
$ gpg --keyserver hkp://keys.gnupg.net --recv-keys 094c5620
I can't supply the exact error message, but it basically said something like "The server returned no data."
Is there a new procedure for verifying the GPG signature?
The problem with Ventoy is, that because of the way that it works, it must be constantly updated. And what that means is that when a new distro is released, there is a chance that Ventoy won't work (until it is updated to fix the problem).
Here is a similar solution that does not have that problem: Easy2Boot.
Easy2Boot has its own problems, but it is much less likely to fail when used to boot a newly released distro.
I like and use Ventoy, but I think it is a good idea to keep Ventoy and Easy2Boot USB drives on hand for better flexibility. On the other hand, since Easy2Boot now includes Ventoy, that may be the better solution, particularly if you want to minimize the number of USB drives dedicated to this purpose.
As an alternative to systemd-boot, you may want to consider Limine.
Some info about Limine:
https://limine-bootloader.org/
https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Limine
I learned about it a few months ago when I playing around with EasyOS.
that tool (clamav really) was running for years scanning all server files. this is the 1st time i got notifications and though i immediately thought of it as false positives, i guessed it'd be better to get official confirmation...
and not all "digests" give false positives notifications.
In retrospect, I think it would have been better to contact the developer of LMD and ask him or her why LMD thinks that there is malicious PHP code in those files. That way, you would have a better chance of receiving an answer, and from the person most qualified to answer the question. And you would more than likely give the developer an opportunity to improve his software. It appears that someone else may have done that since the problem now seems to be gone (according to my testing).
I'd be careful with some git repos or even possible for spoofing to MitM attack package distribution.
Some Debian derivatives (e.g., Kicksecure) run apt through Tor to help prevent such attacks. It seems like a good idea, but I imagine that some people will find that it is painfully slow, especially if they are accustomed to very fast internet access. A good VPN would almost certainly be faster.
Is LMD still alerting on those package digest files? I downloaded those files today, and then installed clamav and LMD. I ran maldet manually and had it analyze those files. It didn't find anything.
a simple question about reported malware in contents, doesn't get any official feedback
what's up?
If you haven't done so already, try the mailing list:
virustotal doesn't report any malware, but i'm not sure, they're using unofficial ruleset for clamav checks. strange that no other antivirus finds it though.
Only two of those have been submitted to VirusTotal. I searched VirusTotal for all of them, and only found these two:
https://www.virustotal.com/gui/file/fe1 … b8fb0f7375
https://www.virustotal.com/gui/file/29e … f5dacb539a
By the way, thanks for posting about this. I had never read about Linux Malware Detect (LMD) until I read your post.
What's going on?
The download link uses "http" instead of "https".
Go ahead and download it, but be sure to check the package before installing it.
Like so:
sha256sum -c file-name.deb
Then compare the output with the published value listed on the web page for that package. The values should match.
I've used this. It works. I like the fact that a normal, non-root user can write to the shared directory from the guest system. I seem to recall that on VirtualBox I always had to be root in order to do that.
AntiX & MX Linux developers have been supplying Debian systemd free distros since the original debacle.
I did hint that they might like to use Devuan instead, but they stuck with Debian, so, yes, it can be done.
I looked at antiX not so long ago. I forget when, but it was within the last several years. And when I did, it was clear to me that they are using some packages from Devuan.

This might be possible, with some difficulty. Back in 2017 I created a Debian Jessie live CD that used SysVinit instead of systemd. Since I wanted this system to fit on a CD, I excluded as much stuff as possible that wasn't needed for the purpose for which it was designed. As a result, there was no udisks present, nor a bunch of related packages. It was possible because I found a file manager that could mount disks without it -- SpaceFM.
Thank-you. Okay, here are the results:

I was planning to install Refracta 11.2 on a Lenovo Ideapad S210 Touch "netbook"; however, after the live system fully loads the touchpad and keyboard do not work at all. A USB mouse that I plugged in works, so that's an acceptable temporary workaround for the nonfunctional touchpad, but I still need a working keyboard to use the installer.
I also tried SystemRescue (formerly SystemRescueCD). With SystemRescue, the touchpad is also nonfunctional, but the keyboard works just fine. With a USB mouse plugged in, I was able to prepare the HDD by deleting all of the Windows partitions.
Anyone have any ideas as to how I should proceed?

Thank you, thank you, thank you. That is the best interview of Catherine Austin Fitts that I have ever watched.
Here is another great interview that is more recent:

It's fairly well known that the design of EXT4 favors speed over data integrity, which is why I always use tune2fs to adjust the filesystem parameters after creating an EXT4 filesystem (if I care about the data on that partition). I'd post the command that I use, but I am currently composing this message on a Windows laptop, and don't have easy access to my notes.
Even so, I doubt that EXT4 is the culprit in this case. My intuition is telling me that you may have somehow gotten a hold of a trojanized (malicious) version of Sigil, as unlikely as that may seem. Since that's probably not the case, perhaps you were just hit with a rare, nasty bug (though not necessarily in ext4).
