WOW, rolfie . . . Thanks for going above and beyond!!
I wish . . . but sadly I had to let wicd go when I moved to Chimaera but since I am always wired it doesn't really matter.
@delgado . . . I only meant to inform this thread that Devuan is aware of Peppermint's Devuan version. ![]()
deb-multimedia.org has always been a little unreliable. I gave up using it long before Devuan even existed because of cautions about it on the debian forum. Everything you need should be available via the Devuan repos.
@delgado . . . Peppermint OS Devuan Release is on the Devuan derivatives list
@Andre4freedom . . . I don't mess much with git admin any more so can't help you with that. Maybe try Codeberg https://codeberg.org/
"Green" is marketing hype . . .
Yeah . . . importing a profile is easy. The hard part is cleaning up the outdated and redundant files. Then there's about:config! Yikes!!
I stayed on Jessie for a looong time. Then websites stopped working properly both the layouts as well as interactive functions. That is what forced a move to fresh Chimaera install and it was a royal pain. Adapting FF and other browser profiles took days even weeks as did adapting to the new interfaces and options.
Random thought . . . If we do not stop replicating, the choices we make will determine how the herd is culled.
Techno fixes for whatever titillate our ravenous appetites for SNS and keeps the economy running but that just digs the hole deeper. The solution is not more but less. Less of everything that we are taught to need and crave.
I have a very low carbon footprint. My car is over 10 years old and has less than 25,000 miles on it. The only airplane I have been on in the last 25 years was to attend the Devuan Conference in 2019. Otherwise, I have not been more than @30 miles from my house. Paradise!!
We all see the world through our own filters . . . yours are not the final word. Please stop this adolescent nonsense . . .
Yes . . . your halo of beneficence shines brightly!
Please give it a rest.
Andre4freedom . . .
You can create an account at our git.devuan.org and post your document there then link to it as appropriate . . .
Still beating that drum, alexkemp? Time to move on . . .
It is mandatory in Excalibur but if upgrading from Daedalus, the merge MUST be done BEFORE the upgrade or . . . consequences. Hope you can work it out. You might be able to fix it . . .
Did you follow these instructions before upgrading to Excalibur?
Well . . . Happy Birthday, oui!
@stargate-sg1-cheyenne-mtn . . . Thanks! I learned a new word - agorism - which I will soon forget. All that wordiness makes my head spin! That being said I have lived my life very much on those principles not from being taught but from an inner "knowing". FWIW, I was advocating for Zero Population Growth in the 70s. I never understood the human urge to replicate. Fortunately, that was at a time when reproductive rights were a choice so could permanently protect myself from an oopsie. Not even a hint of regret. Just gratitude for the freedom to have a life of unlimited exploration . . .
That depends on how and when the merge is activated as well as the non-standard choices made by the user prior to the merge. Please see this usrmerge announcement posted a few days ago.
Dear Friends and Software Freedom Lovers,
This announcement[1] looks to Devuan's future and also to its
beginnings in 2015.
Debian is proceeding with a full implementation of the merged usr file
structure[2] during this current testing cycle. In order to focus Devuan's
available resources on our primary purpose regarding systemd, Devuan
developers have decided it is in the project's best interest to implement
the usrmerge.
# Navigating the merged usr transition
1. Daedalus/stable is the final Devuan release that will function without
merged usr.
2. The safest way to migrate from Daedalus/stable to Excalibur/testing
is to first ensure there is sufficient disk space to accommodate the merge
and that you have made backups before proceeding.
3. Only then install the usrmerge package BEFORE proceeding with the
normal dist-upgrade steps.
4. This document will be updated to reflect future changes as needed.
# Happy Birthday Devuan!
This announcement also celebrates Devuan's 9th birthday as the first
pre-alpha ISO was gifted to us on Valentine's Day 2015. The iconic boot
screen[3] was created for the event. Devuan's journey has been and
continues to be a labor of Love for all of us. Love of Linux. Love of
freedom. And Love of everyone on Starship Devuan.
Note that the timing was also a prophetic salute to Leonard Nimoy
who died less than two weeks after the release.
May Devuan live long and prosper!

Do have a look at this page to understand the Devuan/Debian release relationships:
Can't you just do it in a terminal? A disc shouldn't be needed for a dist upgrade. Or so I remember seeing on this forum. I have not done it myself that I can remember.
I am still on spinning rust . . . and at my age could very well have a lifetime supply in my stash . . .
Anticapitalista was a regular here for years. Was very sorry that he decided to leave us because of another user's borderline posts. I miss him . . .
How did garlic get into the joke thread? Do some posts need to be moved?
