Remmina runs great from Windows 10/11 using Microsoft's WSL.
Then can connect to Linux with SPICE, NX, XDMCP as well as VNC and RDP.
So many connectivity options available.
Regards
Remmina is another option and also works great with XFCE for RDP connectivity.
Give it a try, It's packaged with Excalibur and you might be surprised : )
$ sudo apt-get install remminaRegards
for AMD graphics and miniPCs, try passing amdgpu.dcdebugmask=0x10 to the kernel boot options.
(assuming the related firmware-amd-graphics is also installed)
below is the Xlibre AMD .conf I've been using in combination with above kernel option.
# cat /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/20-amd.conf
Section "Device"
Identifier "AMD"
Driver "amdgpu"
Option "TearFree" "on"
EndSectionwithout the kernel option and .conf, screen artifacts appear when using browsers, compositors such as compiz, picom, etc.
@greenjeans mentioned, the latest Xlibre package config does indeed pull in mesa-dev lib and others.. pita..
probably an artifact from the current maintainer's build workflow as the older Sept2025 release did not do that.

Description: shared infrastructure for Mesa drivers
This package contains libgallium, a private library shared between
multiple Mesa drivers. This library is an implementation detail of Mesa
and should not be used directly by user code.as noted by @rations, on clean-minimal build, installing Xlibre early before adding any DE appears to help.
note: been running Freia alongside Excalibur using Xlibre 25.1.2 build since Feb'26
the URL noted above was the post-fork for debian/devuan by apebl
(no longer maintained since Sept 2025)
Debian / Devuan / Ubuntu APTs are now maintained by NexusSfan.
FYA, LeePen's seatd patches were also merged upstream for the solstice release.
@callmetango provided status of the project as stable release (25.1.3) approaches.
Please reference: https://github.com/X11Libre/xserver/wik … .1-Changes
.
Best Regards
*EDIT* : Backports for devuan stable is required for some updated video drivers (Mesa dependency) ie: AMDGPU
For awareness,
Active maintained Xlibre URL for Devuan (unofficial) is now: https://github.com/xlibre-debian/devuan
Lee's seatd patches have been upstreamed and included in the 25.1 release.
25.1.3 should be 1st stable release.
Adopted excalibur as my daily driver while it was in testing [aug 2024]
Have never experienced major issues.. some tweaks here/there; no show stoppers.
Since GA, deployed several installations on EFI hardware without issues.
[ netboot.iso - GPT mdraid-1.0 hosted lvm OS volume, containing /boot /home and / ]
Boots successfully from the primary EFI partition.
WIth the base layout for my use case, Excalibur knocks it out of the ballpark!
can also create a quick and dirty nullification drop-in if running rsyslog:
$ cat /etc/rsyslog.d/20-rtkit-daemon.conf
if $programname == 'rtkit-daemon' then /dev/null
& stop
Performed fresh excalibur KVM installation this morning. (base no-gui)
Added xlibre repo as noted.
Manually installed: alsa pipewire slim spice-vdagent xfce4 & xlibre
Everything be weking well - No issues observed !
Much appreciate the choice of libre xserver for Devuan !!
