[SOLVED] xrdp with Excalibur XFCE

Should xrdp work with Excalibur xfce?

Connecting from Windows Remote Desktop Client there is only an empty Screen with the mouse cursor, after some seconds there is an error message box "Error connecting to user session"

There is no system gui, system boots into console.

   Been dealing with this one myself.
   Edit /etc/xrdp/sesman.ini 
   SessionSockdirGroup=xrdp

I just want to say THANK YOU!!!!      I'm also very sad I spent 3 days doing a bunch of random chatgpt instructions that all made sense on the surface.

Remmina is another option and also works great with XFCE for RDP connectivity.

Give it a try, It's packaged with Excalibur and you might be surprised    : )

$ sudo apt-get install remmina

You want to connect from Windows to display your Devuan desktop via RDP.  Remmina is the other way around i/e Linux to Windows so not an option. Devuan is on x11 so use VNC to connect from Windows instead. Install UltraVNC client to Windows first. Then install x11vnc server to Devuan. It will work faster than RDP.

Remmina runs great from Windows 10/11 using Microsoft's WSL.
Then can connect to Linux with SPICE, NX, XDMCP as well as VNC and RDP.

So many connectivity options available.
