Devuan Daedalus 5.0 stable release

Dear Friends and Software Freedom Lovers,

It is with great pleasure that the Devuan Developers hereby announce the release of Devuan Daedalus 5.0 as the project's newest stable release. This is the result of lots of painstaking work by the team and extensive testing by the wider Devuan community.

What's new in Daedalus 5.0?

Based on Debian Bookworm (version 12) with Linux kernel 6.1
    Rootless startx uses libseat1
    Wayland GUI without elogind

...

-

Also, I don't see a message on Devuan Announce mailing list - if I didn't visit the forums regularly, I'd have subscribed to that list hoping to get notified...

Re: Daedalus is stable

The main page https://www.devuan.org/ still shows the Devuan 4/Chimaera based information.

Re: Daedalus is stable

Hello,

I am very glad I found Devuan a few years ago - with every new version it's getting better!
The 2 betas work well (with a little problem on startup with 2 HD-displays [1366x768] - FHD is OK [1920x1080]). The downloaded 'stable' will be installed this afternoon ....

What I love most is the 'silence' in network-traffic after start - no unneccesary contacts to see .... that's great (-:
Most other linux-OS need a lot of deinstall or, if not possible with dependencies, delete some files (FF etc.) - by the way, I 'love' cinnamon, since 2015 - it has 'enough' for me, AND not too much.

~ So I want to thank all hard working 'idealists' (right word? I'm german, zorrie) for that wonderful 'honest' linux ~

When I found a bankaccount IBAN for donation a few years ago, the registration didn't happen at all - maybe because I didn't read the help for this problem (don't try it again!) - that made it worst I guess.
This year the IBAN ist no more available - or I didn't find it after a long search.

>> If someone in the team could send me an IBAN with PN or eMail to donate (no other 'risky' ways like BlubCoins, PP etc. please) it would be good for my peace of mind, using Devuan every day - so I could give a little back, you know?

[no, I will never contact a 'member' with a gmail-adress, shame on you pharisäer!)

* My best wishes from the heart to all of you here (and everywhere) - keep going strong against 'the wind of mainstream' *

       Greetings from Schleswig-Holstein,

                                               blumengrub
