Font , old linux rake.

I open the file  https://download1.gigabyte.com/Files/Ma … 821f682f32 in kpdf trinity.

Image without text, because there are no Arial fonts in the system.

Obvious mistake - they are not specified in the font alias. I'm too lazy to dig into the configuration files, I just pulled these fonts from Win and installed them through the Trinity interface.

Probably, the new generation of programmers did not come across such a rake, and they forgot the last time there was a problem with fonts. smile

Well, there is package called ttf-mscorefonts-installer that pulls the standard Windows fonts ...

Re: Font , old linux rake.

I prefer to rip Arial out of the Windows ISO images. The newer versions are nicer, IMO.

Re: Font , old linux rake.

I don't use Arial on my systems, but install it and their siblings on the systems I install for other people. I find free fonts good enough to replace Arial and so. It is a bit strage that the OP doesn't have a good replacement alias list, though.

In my case, installing this package does not solve the problem. You will have to edit the font substitution manually.
This is a snapshot after installing this package.

This is the default GNU/Linux Exe installation. Probably due to the small size of the live image, all the desired programs were not included.
This is not really a problem, time, desire and everything can be fixed.

Re: Font , old linux rake.

The narrow version shows up fine for me.

Installation method here: https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Micros … indows_ISO

Windows ISO images are free to download: https://www.microsoft.com/software-download/windows11

EDIT: added URL tags.

EDIT2: just upgraded to the Win11 version and they look better to me. Removed Win10 link, you don't need that.

Probably my hands are crooked. smile
I tried with the image Windows.7.RU-EN.x86-x64.52in1+-Office.2016.by.SmokieBlahBlah.18.04.20.iso.
1. File system ISO-13346 "UDF", you need to install udftool, then you can mount the image.
2. p7 cannot open the install7.esd file.

root@aa:/home/uly_e/Downloads/Win# mount -t auto ./Windows.7.RU-EN.x86-x64.52in1+-Office.2016.by.SmokieBlahBlah.18.04.20.iso /mnt/cd

Re: Font , old linux rake.

I didn't need to mount the Win11 ISO at all when extracting the fonts using the ArchWiki method. Mounting the image is not a step in those instructions.

Also the Win11 ISO is completely free and legal to download with no registrations required. No need to bother with dodgy pirated software that almost certainly contains hidden malware.

@Head_on_a_Stick
Thank you, it works.
With Win7 image and Win_11_22H2_English_x64v1.iso image.
To do this, the p7zip-full package must be installed. By default, p7zip was installed in the system.
