gray font antialiasing in xfce

Hello again,

I noticed, a long ago, that in xfce I can't reach turning subpixel antialiasing off completely and in any case it stays like
FluxBB bbcode here
with blue and yellow borders.
(as I understood - turning it off should make antialiasing borders colors become of a grayscale).
The matter of choice for sure but I however prefer greyscale or something with not so unupropriate colors.
I have to use gtk color theme with bright and a bit yellowed backgrounds to prevent fonts looks too ugly, but on some white-backgrounded controls it still looks not so good, as well as white text on dark backgrounds that is even worse.
Some talks around that that I need to select RGB subpixel order appropriate to a monitor, but I tried all options and colors do not change at all(I'm on Thinkpad P50).
Any assumptions if I can reach what I'm asking for? Or for example are there any ways to control these colors?

I have never seen that on my screen but I do see some bleeding on screenshots with strong contrasting colors. In Settings > Appearance > Fonts, I have Enable anti-aliasing checked, Hinting: slight and Sub-pixel order none. Default font is set to Open Sans Semibold. But then I have a really nice Dell IPS monitor. Maybe reducing the saturation on your screen would help and reduce brightness a bit - I work at 70%.

I noticed a funny thing - root apps use hinting and antialiasing settings right - when none of rgb pixels order is selected - antialiasing turns to grayscale, not ideal either but makes me feel better. What's wrong with user apps in xfce?

2golinux: not saying fonts are ugly, they are in fact good, even better then on Win10 that is a native OS for this laptop. But I prefer grayscale antialiasing over rgb.
Do you have grayscale or rgb antialiasing when none order selected?

All the options are rgb. But setting it to "none" avoids hints of color here.

I'm doing exactly that but borders are still blue and yellow (, will try to leave with it

Did you try reducing the saturation on your screen a bit?

I did, and yes it helped a bit, however edges of letters are still colored

when none is selected in pixels order and become rgb if any of the orders selected, i.e. behaves as it should.

White text on black background looks awefull and no saturation change helps to fix it

I'd like regular user app fonts to be grayscale aniatialiased like root ones are but for some reason xfce settings do not affect regular use apps.
Hope that could help with terrible white on black.

I found ~/.Xresources file in user home foler with

Xft.lcdfilter: lcddefault
Xft.hintstyle: hintslight
Xft.hinting: 0
Xft.antialias: 0
Xft.rgba: rgb

content, but after removing it nothing happens. Root use doesn't have ~/.Xresources.

p.s. on my macbook fonts antialiasing is grayscale and looks good

I'm out of ideas. Maybe take your question to the Xfce forum. They are friendly and knowledgeable and have solved issues for me more than once.
