I usually don't fuss with choosing themes, but was forced to here due to difficulty reading text within "code" boxes (Ouch, too contrasy, black stripes against light background). Several in the middle of the list (dropdown) seem nearly identical. To my eye, all are dark-on-dark.

I've opted for the last choice on the list, but it's not ideal. Appreciate it if admin could install at least one light/midtone background theme which provides a moderately contrasy darkgray-on-gray or black-on-medium(gray/purple/whatever) background color.

I appreciate the darker styles - shades of grey with bold text colored - mercury (amber), radium(emerald), cobalt(blue).
In my case, the emerald green is initially most pleasant, but for long dark-shift use amber is gentlest.
It's not easy to find a theme or style that uses only amber, orange and red hues for text and darker shades (grey, brown, etc) backgrounds.

I have made constant complaints about the combination of colors without contrast ...

it seems that the one who chose the subject does not know what the meaning of "contrast"

purple vs white are BOTH soft colors.. we need a strong color vs a soft color... please!

You have the freedom to choose whatever colors you like by adding custom styles to your browser.

FluxBB hasn't accumulated many such themes. Most themes it has seem old, selection is limited.
Perhaps you (and others with similar concerns) could contribute some, and demonstrate? It is Open-Source … and may be easier than you think - especially with their community's encouragement.

Currently there are 10 non-purpy themes available from the user profile on this board. Anyone who doesn't like the default is free to choose one of those or do as follows . . .

You can also find alternate FluxBB themes here. They may or may not work on this version of FluxBB so YMMV.
