How can I use Internet Relay Chat?

Hi,

I am trying to get some help through IRC.  I tried to access ircs://irc.freenode.net/#devuan channel using https://freenode.net/.

I entered
Nickname:   
Channels:   
Username:   
Password:   

I also registered my username and password as well.

However, in the chat room, I can only see what I type and I cannot see anybody else's typing.  What should I do?

I see a V-H in my logs, so your configuration probably is correct.

Lots of IRCers stay connected to the chat(s) even while they are away or otherwise distracted. So sometimes a channel looks full while answers come with a huge delay... that's somehow normal... sometimes...

Give it a 2nd try with a bit more of patience...

Yes, just ask your question and stay logged for an answer.   You can read the logs here or here but if you are not logged in you may not receive a response.

I have had good results with HexChat (in the repos).

HexChat is quite useful.
