Streaming speed with integrated graphic card?

Hello

I am about to buy a new laptop and I would like to know whether an integrated graphic card is enough to stream videos without buffering or not.

I have always streamed videos on Windows with a dedicated graphic card and used Linux for work so I have no idea. The laptop I am going to buy will have an Intel Graphics 620 and decent specs.

Thanks

Re: Streaming speed with integrated graphic card?

I don't have a lappie but I've used nouveau with an Intel Core i3-4130 Haswell Dual-Core 3.4GHz since wheezy days.  I also have done a lot of video editing without a problem.  Of course that machine is almost 4 years old . . .

I use a 9 years old Thinkpad with integrated graphics and have no issues with streaming content.

Fair enough. Just to be sure, have you watched movies on websites such as Netlfix/Hulu? No buffering?

Streaming short videos on Youtube should not be a problem for any computer. I am not sure about movies though.

Never been to Netflix or Hulu but have watched The Hollow Crown - Richard II (BBC) - all 3 hours of it.  I suppose that not a "real" movie though . . .

Re: Streaming speed with integrated graphic card?

I have Devuan on 4 computers...all with integrated graphics...one is a Sony Vaio 32 bit laptop with slightly less than 1 GB of RAM, and it is a 12 year old laptop. It will stream Netflix and Amazon Prime (using Firefox Quantum) satisfactorily for me...as long as that's all i'm using it for. If you have at least 4 GBs of RAM, it "should" stream very well; however, not all hardware is created equally.

Yes, I watch on Netflix without buffering and with Firefox Quantum but Chrome/ium works, too.
