I recently reinstalled a copy of devuan_excaliber_6.1.1_amd64 on a virtual machine and discovered that the /etc/hostname file says debian-stable, and the /etc/hosts file has the line
127.0.1.1 debian-stable
It was trivial to fix but was this intentional or just an oversight?
I can't find any package containing these file names using dpkg --search, so I can't file a bug report.

I believe it's the base-files package, totally harmless, alter as you see fit, I change it to reflect Vuu-do and it actually doesn't get over-written on updates.

I did a dpkg --listfiles base-files, and the offending files were not there. I think the files may be created by the system installer.

Setting the hostname is the 3rd screen of the installer as documented here https://www.devuan.org/os/documentation … installing
You can set it to whatever you want.
