Question about the package "ACPI-support" and asus, sony, toshiba

So i'm wondering if I should add this package to the next Vuu-do, it apparently offers some additional options in power management, suspend, hibernation etc., and also supports some keyboard controls, volume up/down etc.

Problem is I don't have a way to know if any of it works or is needed, it is for Asus, Sony, Toshiba laptops mainly from what I can tell, and all my current hardware is HP/Compaq.

This is part of an ongoing effort to fix some power management issues, configure behavior when you close laptop lid, and enable any hotkeys and such.

If anybody has experience with the package and especially if it helped solve some issues, i'd really appreciate any feedback you could give me when you have time.

Thanks!

I have a toshiba laptop, but anything that involves using special keys is out - this thing has no keyboard. (using a regular usb keyboard). Here's a list of files in the package.

Re: Question about the package "ACPI-support" and asus, sony, toshiba

Greetings...
Thanks for adding the list of files!
I'll install and check out the 'acer & toshiba' config's. See if it helps my laptop lid
close - hibernate/resume, dysfunction.
Might even dust off the 'ol dell laptop and try it.

Brings in 'acpi-fakekey'
we have 'rfkill' already.

Re: Question about the package "ACPI-support" and asus, sony, toshiba

greengenes
it apparently offers some additional options in power management, suspend, hibernation etc., and also supports some keyboard controls, volume up/down etc.

I've found no added options - but I'm no dev.. sad
Nothing seemed to change or get added.
No "On laptop lid close" --> Hibernate or Suspend... choice, works, on my acer - which is included in the package config's.
I'm a humble user...tweaking ~ but not fully understanding the code.

I can build ya a house...or brain tan a hide...but look to you folks ~ for how to tweak a file! smile
