it functions on devuan 7 with kde, it seems a handy app.
on devuan 6 with mate, there is probably missing some functionality?
it would open up, but there is not possible to open files - the screen would not respond to mouse commands.

hae however built according to your instructions, but sadly with patch 1 & 2 error (not your fault);
will the resulting "firefox-dev-ed_154.0a1-1_amd64" be blemished forever? are those patches needed?
thanks, i am not needing zoom atm, but might later one and will test.
have not understood your patches, but can hopefully adapt to it.
what does it mean "firefox developer edition is being updated by another instance"?
does the firefox develper auto-update?
thanks for your reply,
dont know why but the older image chimaera or similar older
got installed and proceeded to update from there,
posted sometime at pine forum , but thought this more devuan related, glad it could function, it is very minimal image.
(but have switched since to armbian pmce more)
thank you,
patch 1 & 2 gave error (with 2.39.5 at line 22 & 23 respectively) , but the build went through ~
very pleased!!!
you made browsing a lot more pleasant ~ think if ever there be an devuan award, it should go söso
toyou!
154.0a1 (2026-06-19) (64-bit)
it could be solved by installing
libfdk-aac2t64problem solved, thanks.
Hello ,
am wanting to make a screenshot with Devuan 6.0 KDE , but the app is not responding properly;
the error is
launching spectacle failed
Process org.kde.spectacle exited with error 127from terminal
spectacle
spectacle: error while loading shared libraries: libfdk-aac.so.2: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directorylibfdk-aac-dev is already the newest version (1:2.0.3-dmo1+b1).
Summary:
thank you very much.
have been following your instructions,
that you posted early on how to build firefox;
but missed lately the ones for creating a .deb file ~
so probably the .cubeb thing is not implemented ~ hence , a half-baked solution?
Hello ,
attempted to install this image here for Pine A64+
https://devuan.bio.lmu.de/devuan/dists/ … rd-images/
after installing the error message :
No boot loader installedNo boot loader has been installed, either because you chose not to or because your specific architetcure doesn't support a boot loader yet.
You will need to boot manually with the /vmlinuz kernel on partittion /dev/mmcblk0p3 and root=/dev/mmcblk0p5 passed as a kernel argument.
could someone please tell what the correct course of action in such a case would be?
do i need to manually install grub?
thank you.
for it to be found, you would probably have boot into the kernel first; minor disadvantage of the proach, i guess.
you could install the missing headers simply by inserting
sudo apt install linux-headers-$(uname -r)and it should find the correct ones needed for you.
this has been shared before,
but you could use the manual approach if the cli is no longer compatible with deuvan<
it used to install before, even though it is for made gnome, but so times it break compatibility.
this approach still function from experience , it is relatively easy to achieve.

*how to manually configure openvpn CLI for linux
or
https://protonvpn.com/support/wireguard-linux
i prefer use openvpn since it seem less invasive but sometime on a distro had problem installing openresolv so could resort to thiw wireguard.thing
"i am sure there is a point in all of this"
remember also a time when had microstuttering , probablz with ryzen 2600 or 3600, *could also have been birstol ridge
but not how it got solved
would try to set bios at default position and disable bar,
see if this makes a change, and update bios.
good luck.
here it is written
https://unix.stackexchange.com/question … le-and-why
"you must install grub to the bootable partition"
but am not sure were the truth lies on these matters.
you could always try to install first doing the "automatic partitioning" , and see what changes the partitioner proposes;
and then make the changes you desire if you so like;
iut is not directly related, but its a strange world out there!
https://download.lenovo.com/pccbbs/mobi … re_PCs.pdf
tend to download the full devuan iso instead of netinstsall.iso ; it is usually the faster method, provided you have good internet connection; but it should not change your outcome; where netiinst can fail, the full iso could succeed ().
also, automaticl installation for a newcomer should suffice; but to be honest, even after 10+ years of linux use,
have not really understood the mannual partition or how it is done properly;
things seem to change; once there was a big swap, then a small , now it is even done without swap;
then there is the other option lvm-manager etc;
but if you had windows first and want just linux, would go into bios and "safe-delete" the nvme first,
plus eventually delete the secureboot-keys, but it should not be necessary.
good luck + tidiings in your favour.
did you try to disable "fast boot"?
did you try to set BIOS do "default settings"?
is it a laptop or deksotp pc? ~ modern latop can have strange behaviours , also "thanks" to "internal" batteries.
EDIT: had a similar issue on a desktop if remember correctly; in my case it was the mouse that was causing "wakeup" calls unintendedly and made the desktop turn-on even if supposedly it wws turned off; changing to another mouse solvedt e issue.
one safe bet with desktop computer is always to go into BUOS and press F5 or F8 for default setting;
afterwards you can attempt to install Linux in UEFI or Legacy Modo depending on your needs.
found that with Linux the most failsafe has been to install from burned DVD-iso's , but modern .iso not always find enough space on a 4.7-GB-DVD or even 8.5-GB-DVD;
Devaun is here a notable exception; but had bit more problem lately with installing Devuan 6 than before;
you just need make sure that your eventual Windows installation and Linux are installed the same method (UEFI or legacy BIOS), otherwise grub won't see them vis-a-vis.
if you have a newer computer, it will most certainly be with UEFI (even UEFI only);
sometimes Microsoft forces on certain Windows pre-installed OEM-PC Secure-Boot setting, which makes it ab it more difficult to install Linux, but eventually you will succeed.
Hello Manfred,
you could try this approach which has helped me install drivers for my graphic card;
i thinkg you can install it with another name if you so like (instead of "amdgpu")
there use to be tool "apt-key" or "add-apt-key" or similar, but that is no longer funciton.
this command found on github, it does function also for devuan.
sudo gpg --keyserver keyserver.ubuntu.com --recv-keys 9386B48A1A693C5C
sudo gpg --export --armor 9386B48A1A693C5C | sudo tee /etc/apt/trusted.gpg.d/amdgpu.asc
just insert your key, and it could be ready to go, hopefully.
somtimes use vpn to connect to other countries when the content is otherwise not available;
it is a bit of nuiscane in 2026, but glad to be able to access the content.
if you want, you could test proton-vpn which also function for devuan, but the install is bit buried in the many sections;
you need however to sign up with them for a free account first, if you want touse their services.
https://protonvpn.com/support/linux-vpn-setup
then you can login and download a server.config from the free ones available (several countries available) (speeds are good).
you can either choose a openvpn or wireguard file.
previoiusly used this section here
How to manually configure OpenVPN CLI
https://protonvpn.com/support/linux-openvpn
if this does not function for you, you should be able to connect via wireguard.
https://protonvpn.com/support/wireguard-linux
but be aware that atleast on KDE this wireguard thing tend to automatically connect to vpn thereafter, so you need to deselect the autoconnect in connection manager thereafter.
used to pay for the services sometime, but the free service is perfectly usable;
they are happy to help out, but clearly the service is more oriented towards (ubuntu)/(debian)(fedora) users etc.
as of 2026, it still function well with devuan.
good luck if you wannt tu try it out.
have needed this sometime for "erformancetest"
not sure if this still applies but the trick was like this
taken from performance-test forums (passmark)
sudo ln -s /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libncurses.so.6 /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libncurses.so.5have an older android "smartbox" with an rk3328 (or rk3318?) ; have never attempted to install libreelec on it; but shelved some quick time ago, since it made me feel uneasy, with wifi+bluetooth on board; those are difficult to disable; and good luck finding a "cheap box " amlogic without wifi-bluetooth.
had bought as an upgrade the newly odroid c5, (40 dollar) at the time, but now prices went up (around 68 dollar). it is very capable little "box", but not so refined , yet. if you can find a good deal , it is worth considering. (has also support for av1 codec).(if you need importing it, can become bit expensive, but i think if you want a good non-smart-option, it could be a worthy companion).
@jck ,yes, most of the times flawlesslly, it depends on the TV being connecte to; out of 3 tv (one LED, one Plama, one CCFL) only the bravia CCFL TFT has problem with CEC (but otherwise a pretty gorgeous picture; somewone throw it away , so got away to testit)
have also a usb keyboard at disposal which has a trackpad which is handy if fire up android 14-15 which sits on eMMC and is nice for browsing the web;
but tend to use coreelec most of the time.
using a odroid n2+ with core-elec on a non-smart tv ≤≥ liking it very much, functional for youtube, netflix, prime etc
but sometimes things break Z the soundbar howeveis bit-smart with bluetooth that seem always active when powered on, which is a nuisance, but the sound is good and subwoofer wired. wished could make use of less of less wires, get rid of LED TV (strainging the eyes) but for the moment, thats the setup.
