Lunduke is an acquired taste that gives me indigestion on contact . . .

#4 Re: Devuan » rising website usability and UX » 2026-11-01 17:48:06

https://www.devuan.org/ is the "index" page of the site.

https://www.devuan.org/os/explore lists every page that is available on the site.

I am off to food and AFK now.

#5 Re: Devuan » rising website usability and UX » 2026-11-01 17:08:02

All the releases are listed at the very top of the Index page. Can't get more "up front" than that. The "Explore" link also lists every page on the site.

Only the most basic categories of information are listed in the header. "https://www.devuan.org/os/releases" is the next layer of more detailed information and does not need to be in the header.

#6 Re: Other Issues » 2800 open issues » 2026-10-22 21:11:43

Grasshopper . . . you have much history to digest . . . and you will find all of it on Devuan's channels. Have fun!!

Full quoting has been eliminated for a reason. Please respect that decision.

#11 Re: Intergalactic Communities » Spaced Linux » 2026-10-13 20:16:14

@tux_99

Why would I ban you? You just have an over active imagination and your rant says much more about you than it does about me.

Fact . . . I have NEVER unilaterally banned anyone in the history of this forum. That decision is made by consensus of all moderators. I HAVE deleted a few inappropriate posts over the years.

Fact . . . I have seen the change in the quality of Devuan users over the years and the trajectory of skills and motivations has not been encouraging for the future of freedom. Actually, it is rather depression to see what has happened to the generation that has never known a world without the internet . . .

Fact . . . am delighted that those who were really not suited for this forum now have their own playpen in which to thump their chests.

Please enlighten us . . . what have YOU contributed to Devuan?

#12 Re: Desktop and Multimedia » [SOLVED] Devuan 7, regarding KDE Plasma 6.7.6 and SonicDE » 2026-10-13 19:35:57

WOW! I didn't see that coming . . .

Sorry that this forum was unable to provide an experience that could fulfill your needs and expectations.

Wishing you all the best. We'll be here if you change your mind . . .

#13 Re: Intergalactic Communities » Spaced Linux » 2026-10-13 18:49:02

Devuan is not Ubuntu. A spinoff promoting flatpacks is unlikely to garner much appreciation/support here at Devuan. Also the communication from day one about this distro has seemed very off the mark . . .

#14 Re: Intergalactic Communities » Spaced Linux » 2026-10-13 18:31:10

Did you really have to post this "advertisement" twice when a link to one of the posts would have sufficed? But then . . .  considering that the messaging for "Space Linux" from day one has been a bit off-target for Devuan, perhaps it was to have been expected . . .

#15 Re: Desktop and Multimedia » [SOLVED] Devuan 7, regarding KDE Plasma 6.7.6 and SonicDE » 2026-10-13 00:08:18

Perhaps posting updates to this forum might be most useful/appropriate when you and kapqa have something ready for testing or if you get stuck and need more eyes on the problem. And as ralph.ronnquist suggested . . . you can communicate one on one on IRC. It is a very efficient way to collaborate.

#16 Re: Installation » Adhoc Test Plan for Installation ISOs » 2026-10-09 20:59:34

blackhole: Aside from that, there's obviously far too much misdirected effort. It seems like the usual "$DISTRO is too difficult for beginners to install" thing.

I see the motivation quite differently. Pulling in the same direction and being an elf in the workshop is a faceless task. Creating something new/unique scratches an itch for personal recognition. Which road do you think the "Me Generation" is likely to choose?

#17 Re: Installation » Adhoc Test Plan for Installation ISOs » 2026-10-08 22:53:02

KindlyDoRight . . . do you ever come up for air? LOL! Does blood or electricity run through your veins?

#18 Re: Intergalactic Communities » Spaced Linux » 2026-10-05 22:29:59

I really don't know where to begin with that . . . except that you know so little about Devuan . . .

You are assuming that everybody who creates a derivative also has the very specific skills needed to "deal with and repair the chaos being sent to us from Debian" but this is simply not the case.

N0! I am definitely not assuming that! I know that in 2026 few have the intelligence or skills to do what needs to be done to keep Devuan or any other distribution alive. Sad but true. The devolution of our species will possibly be the final nail in the "free software" coffin .

tux_99 wrote:

I could create a derivative, but I certainly could not "deal with and repair the chaos being sent to us from Debian" and I guess this applies to lots of derivative-creators too.

What's the point, really except some kind of bragging rights? 0 + 0 = 0

#20 Re: Intergalactic Communities » Spaced Linux » 2026-10-05 19:12:52

When Devuan was created over a decade ago, the majority of those involved were team players all pulling in the same direction toward a common goal. If that magic had not happened there would have been no Devuan.

Fast forward to 2026 and we have the "Me Generation" on steroids. It is no longer "what can WE do as a team" for the greater good but "what can I do" that will get me attention and perhaps put me into digital history.

That attitude is not one that will sustain Devuan or free software for that matter.

What we don't need are more derivatives or fancy color wheels etc.. In fact, that misdirected energy will be the nail in the coffin of "free software".

#21 Re: Packaging for Devuan » chimaera is going to archive? » 2026-09-22 17:45:00

This is a user support forum. Have you filed an official bug report where a dev will actually see it??

You can start here:

#22 Re: Desktop and Multimedia » Recurring captcha from Google. » 2026-09-17 18:00:32

I gave up using "GooGoo" for web browsing over a decade ago. I do have a few email accounts which I keep archived for historical purposes and for other functions which would be a PITA to switch to elsewhere.

#23 Re: Intergalactic Communities » Spaced Linux » 2026-09-13 17:00:15

Good question and I cannot retrace my thought process at this time . . .

#24 Re: Intergalactic Communities » Spaced Linux » 2026-09-13 14:09:50

Of course,  Camtaf. My point is that what is appropriate for this forum and what is appropriate for WWW are two entirely different things. Spinoffs posted to WWW are very carefully vetted over a long period of time..

Not for much . . . We have to have high standards or we will have no credibility.
