From the ACSII release notes:
### Non-free firmware
All Devuan 2.0 ASCII install media make non-free firmware packages
available at install time. In the majority of the cases, these
packages are needed (and will be installed) only if your wifi adapter
requires them. It is possible to avoid the automatic installation and
loading of needed non-free firmware by choosing the "Expert install"
option in the installation menu.Devuan 2.0 ASCII desktop-live and minimal-live images come with
non-free firmware packages pre-installed. You have the option of
removing those non-free firmware packages from the desktop-live and
minimal-live after boot, using the "remove_firmware.sh" script
available under /root.
@MiyoLinux . . . Thank you! That is perfect for when the time comes. Won't go there until there is no other option.
You should be using deb.devuan.org. Looks like one of the mirrors is failing. There is a list of mirrors here but without corresponding IP #. I'll report it to KatolaZ.
Indeed. Welcome home.
Congrats and welcome to Devuan and the forum!
It's not in ascii-backports. You have to use policykit-1 from ascii.
Add ascii main repo, update, then apt-get -t ascii install policykit-1 or if for some reason that doesn't work, specify the version: apt-get install policykit-1=0.105-18+devuan2.11
You'll probably have to do the same with the libpolkit packages if you're forcing a downgrade from the buster/beowulf version.
gksu has been deprecated on beowulf iirc maybe KDEsu has also? Has been discussed on DNG ml and elsewhere.
Have you read the release notes?
Did you look for newer packages in ascii backports? There has been almost no work done on beowulf yet and as you discovered, it has some quirks. You'll probably need to get the polkit package from ascii until we catch up.
Welcome to Devuan. I predict that we will be hearing more and more stories like yours in the future. Would you consider dropping a modified version of this over at Distrowatch? Might inspire someone else to take the leap.
Your personal tirades might provide some always welcome amusement . . . ![]()
I suspect that autoclean might not take eudev and our customized backend options into its equation. Make sure you have the backend compatible with your DE installed. And ALWAYS check what is going to be nuked BEFORE you hit enter. ![]()
Read the release notes.
I stopped using sudo years ago when I dumped Ubuntu but I remember the % always puzzled me so you are not alone. Very happy to hear you worked things out. Currently I am in the middle of my own quagmire so can sympathize.
There hasn't been much work done yet on beowulf. Please file a bug report.
gksu should launch synaptic. It works for me from a panel launcher.
All that in less than an hour. WOW!
Hi guys! Let me know if i can give a hand!

I've been getting into a new genre of electronic music called "Wave" lately. Here's a good example:

I need an account to listen. No way.
Nice that you stopped by. ![]()
Those packages are available in all Devuan releases.

@campus . . . Just a thought . . . if you leave your notes here, other devs could be directed here if necessary rather than fsmithred having to do that manually.
Your sources are outdated. I posted a link above that should have clued you in about that. packages.devuan.org (that served jessie) uses the old amprolla but is now deprecated and will be decommissioned when jessie reaches EOL. deb.devuan.org, a round-robin of package mirrors, pulls from pkgmaster.devuan.org which is built with the new amprolla3 and has many additional features.
Please refer to the ASCII Release Notes for further clarification.
There's much more that needs attending than the certificate. I got sent to at least one 404.
