Hey Larry if you change to bash again,
maybe you should do something like

cat .config/zsh/aliases >> ~/.bashrc
cat .config/zsh/functions/update_all.zsh >> ~/.bashrc

maybe check .config/zsh/functions if there is anything else interesting

if anyone uses an older version, i recommend to get this new one

Fixed a bug in the installer in case the username is changed, now all references in ~ and symlinks will be changed to the new name
enhaced the update scripts
qutebrowser and palemoon now run correctly in firejail
new programms like a gui calendar, pdf-metadata-editor, gemeni browser and more
recompiled some programs to the latest version
polybar now has some clicky action
general updates
new scripts
and more

known issues:
when changing the usersame in the installation, qutebrowser will fail to start
to fix this run 'update_qutebrowser --reinstall' in a terminal

i also tested it on the new machine of my brother which is a ryzen something processor and noticed that the X server will not start
i dont know what causes this and i dont have a fix for this now
personally i only run decade old hardware and never had this problem
if anyone knows why, please contact me

update_all is now working in the new version and the chage username option is also working correctly, i tested it last night
and zsh tab completion is working for me, dont know why it was not working for you
if you still have any of this problems in the new version, please let me know

looks like something is wrong in /etc/firejail/palemoon.profile

you could try to add

noblacklist ${HOME}/.config/palemoon
whitelist ${HOME}/.config/palemoon

and then launch it like this

firejail palemoon --profile ~/.config/palemoon

I have also ordered a camera, its a v1 version, and its s clone with ov5647 sensor

that might be what i have here too, but im not 100 percent shure
all i can say it that it says 5MP Camera on the box and it does not look like an original

yes i used the right connector and had that gpu_mem=128 and also start_x=1 in /boot/config.txt
not sure what sensor i have, cant find any information on this

i was trying to get this working https://elinux.org/RPi-Cam-Web-Interface , it uses mjpeg

the font is called 'bebas-neue'

How much CPU usage does that use?

according to htop it uses 0.0%
the whole system with nothing other open but htop bounces between 1-2% cpu usage and 180-190M ram
since that is in percent, i should mention that this data refers to a 10 year old Thinkpad X201

still have not figured out how exactly everything works, but the jwm files are there

i am not sure if it is necessary, but to make sure jwm loads the correct config,
the line where jwm gets started in your .xinitrc should look like this

also notice that .config/jwm/theme is a symlink to one of the files in .config/jwm/themes/
dont know how git handles symlinks, but in case that does not work, try

ln -s .config/jwm/themes/protogrey .config/jwm/theme

make sure to have a read of .config/jwm/autostart.sh and adjust it to your needs
and to make your wallpaper load, check .config/jwm/wallpaper
you maybe want to change 'xwallpaper --zoom .local/wallpaper.png' to 'nitrogen --restore' or whatever wallpaper setter you use

Just upladed Version 2021_01,
from now on there wont be montly updates anymore,
i think there is not much left to do and i am pretty happy with it as it is now.

Programms from other places than the Devuan repo can be updated with the 'update_all' alias.
(Palemoon, Qutebrowser, Icecat, Shotcut, Deadbeef, youtube-dl)
And the programms that i compiled from source like JWM and BSPWM have been rebuilt with the latest git version, so they are good to go for the next time.

There will only new releases when the next version of Devuan is released, or if someone finds a bug in the installer script
or maybe if gnu hurd 1.0 will ever be reality

that raspberry pi is running headless, i connect only via ssh and tmux, so there is no point for me to have a graphical environment installed

turned out that copying that /opt/vc/lib folder from https://github.com/raspberrypi/firmware … opt/vc/lib was a really bad idea
'apt install --fix-broken' would always complain about the 2 armhf packages and fail removing them and sudo ldconfig would always throw a segmentation fault

luckily a made a backup before i did this
i uninstalled the armhf files from raspbian and then did this

git clone https://github.com/raspberrypi/userland.git
cd userland
sudo ./buildme

that gave me /opt/vc/lib/libbcm_host.so and all the other needed files

sudo echo "/opt/vc/lib" >> /etc/ld.so.conf
sudo ldconfig -vv

as tuxd3v mentioned

and finally

git clone https://github.com/markondej/fm_transmitter.git
cd fm_transmitter
make

not really, they are installed but unconfigured
libraspberrypi-dev was depended on libraspberrypi0 and that depended on raspberrypi-bootloader
and i didnt want to install that bootloader
however i have now that /opt/vc/lib/libbcm_host.so file
but now i get more errors from make

i tried to copy the /opt/vc/lib folder from https://github.com/raspberrypi/firmware … opt/vc/lib but that didn't do the trick

now i compiled the fm_transmitter on raspbian and copied it over to devuan but i can't run it
the file is there and is executable but

./fm_transmitter

returns 'no such file or directory: ./fm_transmitter'

i installed raspbian on another sd-card and did

sudo apt download libraspberrypi-dev

and got libraspberrypi-dev_1.20200819-1_armhf.deb
now when i try to install this on the devuan sd-card with

sudo dpkg -i libraspberrypi-dev_1.20200819-1_armhf.deb

it fails because dpkg: error processing archive libraspberrypi-dev_1.20200819-1_armhf.deb (--install):
package architecture (armhf) does not match system (armel)
which i find very strange, it was the same hardware, why has raspbian another architecture

also while i was on raspbian i tried the dht22 humidity sensor and it worked no problem
i debugged it with print statements and found out that it was detecting that im on a pi 3 instead of pi 1, so i had to install it from git with the --force-pi option intead of installing it with pip
so at least that is working now

There is an updated version of the installer available on sourceforge below the iso download,
which has to be added by hand into the ~/.local/Scripts directory
But i just noticed yesterday that there still is a problem, if you chose grub, it will maybe complain about a gpt partition table even if there is none
i will fix that with the next release, for now, the workaround is to press the left arrow key if this message appears and the installation will proceed

Hi,
I have some problems with Devuan on my Raspberry Pi (1 B)
and i assume that the broadcom driver /boot/bcm2708-rpi-b.dtb is not loaded correctly.
How can i check and maybe edit the boot command to make sure it is included?

The reason why i think it has to do with /boot/bcm2708-rpi-b.dtb, is because i tried to build https://github.com/pimylifeup/fm_transmitter
and it failed with this error: transmitter.cpp:36:10: fatal error: bcm_host.h: No such file or directory

and also the driverers from Adafruit_DHT (for DHT22 humidity sensor)
fail with this: RuntimeError: Error accessing GPIO.

maybe i have to edit /boot/cmdline.txt , but how to include that bcm file?

I am happy to announce that the problem that yohno had is now fixed.
Grub now installs correctly with or without seperate boot and in UEFI and Legacy.
I made massive changes to the installer and fixed a lot of things,
also added some more checks to make sure everything is set up correctly before the install function starts.

Also qutebrowser no longer uses the relative old version from the devuan repository,
but the latest release from github. A script is available to check and download the most recent release.

The iso file hase just been uploaded to sourceforge
