we cannot fork all that are "eating" by the systemd monster! we must thing in less work due are directed respect the amount of developers/manpowers

in the case of gksu, due not to use GUI applications as root but to use su and the command line instead.

For those GUID programs (stupid, admin its for console, GUI oinly for user level) In the long term pkexec will be used but not very easy to use at the moment.

pkexec allows an authorized user to execute PROGRAM as another user. If username is not specified, then the program will be executed as the administrative super user, root.

FOR NOW SUDO HANDLE DIRECTLY THE RIGHTS FOR XAUTHORITY.. but runs app as root user are stupid.. there's a userspace for taht, there's the main reason of the dissapear of gksu

anwered in the other https://dev1galaxy.org/viewtopic.php?pid=7715#p7715

the complete command line, i do not use that stupid config file

debmirror-devuan \
 --ignore-missing-release --ignore-release-gpg \
 --nocleanup --diff=none \
 --source --section=main,main/debian-installer,contrib,non-free --arch=i386 --dist=jessie --omit-suite-symlinks \
 --host=pkgmaster.devuan.org --root=devuan --method=http \
 --progress --verbose \
 mirrordirectorydebs

in this case i386, all section including non-free, only jessie, no diff or cleanup if someting goes wrong or faill, rest of options are same as debian

no w i have locally the two flavors, and i see how systemd are invadoing more and more lijnux system arrggggggg

AGAIN INCOMPLETE DOCUMENTATIO OR REFERENCE!

hi!  after several try's i cannot mirror ONLY the devuan pacakges, just mirrored ALLL and i dont need the debian package

i just want to mirror ONLY THE DEVUAN MODIFIED RESPECT THE DEBIAN PACKJAGES please some one has tokown how to do so?

why its so hard owrk with devuan? pufff

as can see it, start always to download the debian packages startirng by the 90ad data package that are huge large size

[100%] Getting: dists/jessie/non-free/binary-i386/Release... ok
Parse Packages and Sources files and add to the file list everything therein.
Download all files that we need to get (42511 MiB).
Get package files.
[ 0%] Getting: pool/DEBIAN/main/0/0ad-data/0ad-data-common_0.0.17-1_all.deb... ok
[ 0%] Getting: pool/DEBIAN/main/0/0ad-data/0ad-data_0.0.17-1_all.deb

two users more reported with mi in git, no attention! also report a bug here are a pain! umm lest see, how many novice users report at bugtracker? lest taking seriously, here in the forum we are more advanced users... currently i solved as posted but for my others users please! they are only users not computer avocates! just only want to use it!

be update men! in debian problem was gone away many time ago,  its now a serious problem in devuan due in debian only the interface have that problems, but in devuan problems are in the keyboard, in the display manager and also in the user environment

#111 Re: News & Announcements » Devuan 2.0 ASCII Beta is here! » 2018-02-22 20:57:18

in debian the problem in display managers was gone away some time ago now its a DEVUAN problemn, was gone puff be update men!

#112 Re: News & Announcements » Devuan 2.0 ASCII Beta is here! » 2018-02-22 18:14:14

hi @fsmithred in DEBIAN i install any login manager in any language order an works! so its not a problem that comes from the system, in devuan always assumed english .. and when i finally made that you said, the keyboard for remote desktop alway set to English..   its a problem assumed that are developed only for developers.

in many many other post i cited enough the bug link.. i'm not the only user with this problem, also i posted in git also in bugtracker etc etc etc please! in servers the performance its superior, but for desktop there's many problems...

#113 Re: News & Announcements » Devuan 2.0 ASCII Beta is here! » 2018-02-22 06:43:04

puff the problems with multiple locales are still present and get boring, seems devuan only served good in servers.. for desktop get in a pain if are multi language env

PD: solution was send to the bug tracker.. responses are ... well silenced.

#114 Re: Documentation » Live-build tips » 2018-02-22 02:15:11

umm interesting.. i tested all and live-build its the best, why, same process like debian less pain, all the documentation works for advanced mode, either the sdk side that all are new and novices take it very hard and with pain..

#115 Re: Desktop and Multimedia » virtual machine help » 2018-02-14 13:15:26

graaphical? sycnaptics? i think you should learn first to use it on console the apt and repository, then compilation and last the orchestation

read some in the archipel projevt about the spliting of the package, basics need agents and core archipel... later at last its where find wich client package will need, but you seems still are in winbuntu world

debian archipel packages are spliting depending of the target and usage, but there 3 basics, agents, core and clients.. and orchestation are done in the web browser at 8000 port

#116 Re: DIY » runit as a process supervisor » 2018-01-03 16:05:41

umm there's no easy to packager a specific way to find process for each daemon/service in the OS, a more generic way to find PID and top process must be found..

but in those days nothing its standard unless systemd! oughtch! oh no! what i said!

#117 Re: DIY » runit as a process supervisor » 2017-12-31 03:43:16

hi to all, i already now that this trheath its about a runit issues, but maybe a strategy move can be support upstart, that was used nomadays in winbuntu..

yeah unmantained but the point it's  due it's excelent compatibility (no need of any change for usage alongside with sysvinit)

can be a strategy move to more distributions and non-linux OS found a cooperative way to stop the alienate systemd process

we must take in consideration the workload to manpowers in devuan, what happened when project grow so many more thant the amount of developer can support? will be good a little of cooperative help beetweent MANY and not litle distros

Hmm...

very funny! XD XD great!  http://i0.kym-cdn.com/photos/images/new … 66/8d2.gif

but then i get the true reallity and feel so sad!

#120 Re: Devuan » Stretch is coming, Devuan status backported or up to date packages » 2017-12-29 15:01:49

backports packages works well now time was passed, i used devuan in two server target and no probles yet apart of the reported bugs

strech was release some months ago now and devuan i hope comming soon, but if too much time passed the development team will have a very big work to mantain older release and newer!

by the way no one of the reported bugs in devuan was resolved for me! i try to help re¿solvind but its very complicated the development environment..

why not just a "mentors" site just like debian does for zealots?

#121 Re: Devuan » Can Devuan survive and face the development of Debian? » 2017-12-29 14:50:42

now some months was passed and time go forward

taking in consideration that devuan "its just a debian without systemd" (well made merge and proxy of their repositories)

debian strech was released and then ascii need to be release soon, so the original question its a constant reallity

I can't wait for beowulf

sound more like fashion rather than need it! hardware problems comes not only due "still unsuported not up to day" linuxes, also comes due "bad choice of hardware"

in any case, if you take close the other distros and Devuan, desktop fashion are not the target, servers and stability are the obvious target due the release cycle are larger beetween versions

gNewSense is an FSF sponsored project which predates systemd and has very specific goals and is very much driven by ideology.  It's easy to see why the Devuan people didn't decide on just "joining" that one.

ideology are too unflexible, but without ideology we are wild people without moral and base

cynwulf wrote:

Also gNewSense (or indeed FSF/Stallman) doesn't seem to have any specific goals or opinions regarding systemd.  It's not a given that future releases of that Linux distro won't just include systemd once it becomes the expedient choice.  (the focus there is more on removing device firmware from the Linux kernel so as to make hardware, which should run out of the box, unusable).

when a couple of people or team manage too much things or get too away from their limits, cannot get a specific position.

i give you a example, in mid 2008 Stallman recomended a venezolan distro as better in a event, from that day and today never have been do that again due the lot of problems that this sentence provoque

umm if devuan are just debian without systemd, why not work in team with debian.. oh i forgotten, devuan it's actually comes from a dispute with debian.. ;-)

well in any case, why not better just liast of generic or most "equivalents" arm hardware? its better cover many models with this strategy!

#125 Re: News & Announcements » How you can help Devuan » 2017-09-30 02:13:22

i report some coupe of bugs yet and provide for one or two the solution but i cannot see the response or feedback!
