Hello.
Thank you for the info. I will follow this project.
Hello.
It is a dead project...just use pure Devuan....
No problems here. I can update.
How do I save the list of all my installed packages with Synaptic, or load them into it from a previous installation to see if any are missing?
Hello.
If I understand you correctly, you can do it this way:
create your system’s packages/applications list with a .txt file, using this command:
apt list > listapt.txt
The above command generates a list of installed packages/applications and then outputs them to the file “listapt.txt”.
How do I get google-earth-pro installed (it's not in Synaptic)?
Ditto for Librewolf & Otter web-navigators
Maybe from flatpak?
Hello.
Animals, including insects, are much more intelligent than scientists believe.
Hello.
Just install chrony....
Hello.
Currently
php8.3 (8.3.9-1)
is in Debian experimental.....
No, the updates have not stopped for Chimaera. I have the same version of Chrome on both systems... ???
Since Devuan Chimaera is based on Debian 11 and in Debian 11 chromium is not supported, it cannot be….
Hello.
Try run xfce4 terminal from another terminal (for example from xterm). And post terminal output here.
Anyway, can anyone tell me whether Brave is expected to work in Devuan, before I get Devuan running on my computer?
Hello.
Just install Brave browser as flatpak. They released official flatpak images
Chromium or some more proprietary version
Hello.
I don't know what you mean by "more proprietary version", but chromium is completely open source software.
Chromium... sigh people use that... its not exactly good regarding leaks.
Hello.
If you don't want to be tracked and protect yourself from data leaks (if it's possible at all), then there is another project for such purposes called ungoogled-chromium.
Hello.
Same problem here.I haven't found any way to solve this problem (other than using the flatpak chromium version).
I think it is related to this
Did you make it executable (as user) with command
chmod +x
The OSS audio system is used by freebsd. And it works perfectly and is supported on this operating system. I can confirm that the sound quality through OSS is much better than alsa.
And why do you need such an old audio system?
And here you should not forget that you will have to service the system assembled in this way yourself (if security or bug fixes are released). Sure, we can build a deb package, but there's no guarantee it will work....
I think it is not necessary to install this program. Much easier to use a fully functional Skype in-browser application. It provides all your favourite features.

P.S.
Snap is not supported in Devuan. It is banned package because is tightly integraded with systemd.
Hello.
I think it is must opened as sudo...
golinux
Huh?
Hello.
If you installed package
xfce4
(Meta-package for the Xfce Lightweight Desktop Environment), it depends on xfce4-pulseaudio-plugin. xfce4-pulseaudio-plugin recommends
pavucontrol
and
pulseaudio
And in Devuan, by default, recommended packages are installed automatically.
Hello.
By default, with xfce, Devuan uses pulse audio.
I want to ask, how does the ratpoison window manager start? From display manager, or with startx?
If you need to use the latest versions of programs, you can take a look at Artix linux. Keep in mind that the latest versions of programs may contain not only improvements but also bugs.
ntpd+client?
No.
ntp
is a dummy transitional package to transition to NTPsec. In short, install
ntpsec
package.
Hello.
You can install package
ntp
