The current color scheme is perfect. And as the saying goes, If it is not broken, don't change it.
Thanks! I hope you will feel the same about Daedalus Sapphire if/when it happens . . . ![]()
Everything is back up and running. It took a while due to tz and sleep schedules.
@jgmbenoit . . . thanks for the report and welcome to Devuan!
It's dead, Jim. Not working here either. Neither is git. This is a first iirc.
I am convinced that the only way to win is not to play. Thankfully I am old so that may be possible but at some point, being part of the hive will be mandatory. Horrifying!
There will be no Daedalus security repository until it is officially released.
In Devuan, non-free firmware has always been installed by default. This from https://www.devuan.org/os/install:
Non-free firmware
Non-free firmware packages are available on all install media. These packages will only be installed if required by your wifi adapter. To avoid the automatic installation and loading of needed non-free firmware, choose the Expert install option during the installation process.
The desktop-live and minimal-live images have non-free firmware packages pre-installed. These packages may be removed after boot using the remove_firmware.sh script available under /root.
Greetings fellow travelers!
The next Devuan stable release, Daedalus, is on the horizon and it is time to recolor the Devuan websites to mirror the signature Sapphire theme color palette. It has been a great ride for me through 5 Devuan releases but it is time to pass the torch.
The Devuan websites have always reflected the signature colors of the current Devuan stable release default desktop. It requires changing the hexes in the CSS for all 4 of them as well as recoloring a few icons. Here is the list of websites needing attention:
https://www.devuan.org/
https://pkginfo.devuan.org/cgi-bin/policy-query.html
https://bugs.devuan.org/
https://popcon.devuan.org/
The color palette of the Daedalus Sapphire desktop theme is here:

If you are interested in taking on this task, I will be available to walk you through the process.
If no one steps up, the website(s) colors will remain on the Chimaera Deep Sea theme for the duration.
Finally a shout-out to all of you for so kindly supporting my colorful efforts as I have muddled my way though the theming process over the years.

Not by me. The OP probably figured out he could do that himself, at least for a certain time window unknown to me. That doesn't apply to admins though . . . ![]()
@rzmv . . . You should be able to edit your original post to remove the image and replace it with text.
Well, now that you have edited it, it reads "daedalus" although when first posted it read "deadalus"
Actually, I think that was me. When there are obvious misspellings of Devuan releases, I will correct them to prevent further confusion. ![]()
I have had a riseup account for a very long time and imagine a number of you have too! The riseup birds are a unique flock and IMO deserve support. I just did the donation thing. Maybe some of you will want to do the same. Here's their message:
Many years ago, we had a server literally held together with duct tape and stashed away in someone's overheated closet. Then we had one in someone's dusty basement, that a well-meaning environmental activist kept turning off. Our first fundraiser was held to replace these servers, and we had one person donate! That was almost twenty years ago, and while many things have changed since then we are still the same.
We still dumpster equipment, fight spammers and trolls, and do whatever else we can to support people engaged in their struggles against oppression.
Our work is not possible without your support, and we work hard to ensure that our services can be a lever we can collectively use to force the world to change. We spend most of our time keeping these services up and running, and we aren't great at focusing on things like asking for money. If you can, please take a moment and make a donation to support the autonomous communication infrastructure at https://riseup.net/donate
@brday . . . I don't understand your question. AFAIK weekly builds of the daedalus (testing) installer-iso are updated every Monday and available for download on our mirrors.
@prospero . . . now THAT is certainly an offering from mainstream media which, from my limited contact, seems to be focusing on the wonders of AI.
Sadly, I did not make it far into the long interview . . .
Humans are still/always/forever looking through the wrong end if the telescope. How can they possibly know what the AI is doing when they have no grasp of how their own mind functions. Until that is clearly understood, all the outward-facing speculations will miss the target.
[edit] PS . . . In case it wasn't clear . . . the answer is not "out there" or a "thinking". It requires inward introspection and passive observation of how one responds to various stimuli - visual, aural, olfactory, gustatory, tactile and mental.
The Devuan release following Chimaera. Have a look at:
Computerphile and Two-Minute-Papers sure have a lot of reach
Their weirdness has never reached me.
and DW is a German broadcast.
I used to watch them on PBS until they added a scrolling banner "feature" at the bottom of the screen. Byebye . . .
But I'll give you some holidays and wave goodbye in this thread now. _o/"
Huh? Why?
@yeti . . . Please explain to me how your most recent posts quality as "mainstream" media? It's interesting but not quite the conversation I was expecting . . .
Ignorance is bliss?
The sun will burn earth.
I think about that too.
Without panicking.
Not quite. Wisdom is liberating! 'Tis all in the mind and we are writing the script moment to moment . . .
I believe we should let go: either resistance is futile, or there is nothing to resist. One does not simply resist evolution.
Some good advice in there. We only have control of our own mind. We can either stress out or skillfully ride the waves with detachment.
Exactly. That is the conundrum of all sentient species and yes, from the earthworms burrowing in the ground to oppressive dictators the task is the same.
Would human extinction be a bad thing considering the mess we've made of things?
@yeti . . . The discussions I've read/listened to so far worry about how to control machines. Problem is that they are created with all the flaws of their human creators. We want to enslave the machine to do only good things for us like obedient slaves. How can we expect the machine to do that when we cannot do that ourselves? The machine will only mirror and magnify all our human flaws. Until we rid ourselves of our own greed, hatred and delusion everything we touch will be tainted with the same. The hubris and folly of imaging otherwise is stunning . . .
Thanks, yeti. We are so screwed. Humans just don't know any other way. The only "escape" from the madness is to view the entire contaminated mess with detachment and let it go . . . and I'm not just talking about AI . . .
golinux wrote:. . . How do you even come across this sort of nonsense? . . .
People find this video the same way people keep watching a TV show way past it's prime.
This explains a lot. I am only vaguely aware of "media channels" like that unless something came up in a search and have never subscribed to one. Don't those folks have something better to do with their life? What a waste of time . . .
It does fit the thread topic "AI on mainstream media".
So I see no wrong-doing in mentioning that one.
I did not question your posting it or its appropriateness. I questioned the content. ![]()
