Id say you need to look into the desktop settings and enable view volumes on the desktop.

As shown in the pictures, that's all you can see. How to enable it? In the desktop settings, Removable devices is enabled in the default icons section,

edit: also what is your purpose, why do you want to detect your smartphone, to detect files or to use it as a network device?

In devuan I do not see the device RNE L03 which is Huawei, only the Huawei disk is there. And logically the devices are used for what is needed, not for networking.

Ive only ever needed to detect the storage medium.

If you look at the images of the two systems? In Linux mint it detects RNE L03 which is the hardware of the Huawei phone, while in Devuan it only detects the disk, and does not detect RNE L03 of the Huawei hardware phone.

Hello

BusterDog  is still available and active? What is your link to download your Live iso ? Since July 2020 there is no activity on your forum.

I don't understand how a nice system like DevuanDog has been discontinued. Sorry in what flavor of Devuan do you have software updated to date with firefox which is about version 89? sad

Still in disbelief? As you can see in the pictures, there is still DevuanDog, an excellent lightning-fast distro that consumes few machine resources.

Good morning

Can someone explain, what happened to the wonderful DevuanDog distribution? I have been testing it and it is a very light system, it consumes few system resources, the system flies, it has had as window manager, openbox and JWM.

Hello sgage!

Interesting about backports, how to proceed, which is the link or the guide to get more recent versions? and it would also be good to try the full "trial" version, called a chimaera.

You seem to be missing the point of Devuan, which is to be a systemd-free fork of Debian, and which it accomplishes quite nicely.

I don't like systemd, ither but the hardware desktop of Linux Mint in Xfce automatically detects the devices when you plug for to the  ports,  which is not the case with Devuan Xfce in past versions.   On the other hand, FreeBSD has no systemd, and its system plus software is kept up to date with the latest developments which gives security to the system without detecting any vulnerability.

The repositories for Devuan 3 (Beowulf) are those of Debian 10 (Buster), with some exceptions required by forking/substitution of packages to avoid systemd dependencies. For Devuan 3, you won't see lots of version updates of software, but you will see regular security updates and bugfixes, a la Debian.

Why doesn't the software automatically update every new version available as Linux Mint systems or other systems like FreeBSD do?  For example, it cannot be that Firefox or Falkon browsers, among other software, continue to have older versions that generate system vulnerability.

Does anyone know the topic of repositories for Devuan 3 if it is quarterly or latest?    An operating system for system security against the danger of vulnerability, must be
updated with the latest repositories.

Does anyone know how to change the "quarterly" repositories for the "latest"  repositories ? It is that the system must be updated even for security.

You have ascii and ascii-security in your sources. You could add ascii-updates.

Another option is to edit the .desktop file so it runs a different command. Change the line that has 'Exec=synaptic-pkexec' to one of the following.

Exec=gksu synaptic
or
Exec=xterm -e 'su -c synaptic'

or replace xterm with your favorite terminal.

Note: you don't need to be in the sudo group to use gksu.
Note2: if you are in the sudo group, synaptic might work from the menu without editing the .desktop file. (It did for me in a test install.)

How to proceed to add for ascci updates? Wich is the of .desktop  directory?

I tried to open synaptic or gparted  from sudo  group and it does not open.

It seems that you haven't read it right, the open topic is from the ISO Beta ASCII that I was testing in virtualbox.

Does anyone know of repositories to add and update the entire system including applications without breaking the system? I don't know why it takes so long to update the application package repositories.

Right-click that file, choose "extract here", next move the extracted icon pack into /usr/share/icons/

That should do it, you can change the ownership to root if you want.

Icons are easy like that, just drop them in the folder and when you next pull up your preferences editor they should be there.

Hello greenjeans, I have proceeded more or less as you mention, however it does not detect the Devuan system nor is displayed in icons of the appearance settings.

# cd /home/user/Download/
# mv numix-icon-theme-circle.tar.gz /usr/share/icons/

# cd /usr/share/icons/

numix-icon-theme-circle/README
numix-icon-theme-circle/doinst.sh

How about the world of OpenBSD? I imagine there are no repositories for that system, it is very difficult to build that system with the few applications compatible  for  that system of graphical desktop, and that it is not possible to update every time the system detects vulnerabilities.
