#351 Re: Devuan » [SOLVED] Mailing list subscription broken » 2024-07-12 15:42:15

@Tritonio . . . Please give that link another try. It should be fixed . . . Again, thanks for letting us know that it was broken!

#352 Re: Installation » does the Brave browser work here? » 2024-07-11 00:53:48

There are quite a few Brave users here but alas, not me . . .

#353 Re: Installation » [SOLVED] is there not an ISO that doesn't immediately start the installer? » 2024-07-10 23:23:22

I seem to remember that there are no live Excalibur (testing) isos available but there will be after the freeze. Right now there are too many changes happening upstream to keep the live iso current.

Memory issues? Wasn't once enough?

See . . . I have been paying attention . . .   wink

#355 Re: Devuan » lists.dyne.org require rDNS for senders » 2024-07-10 01:17:29

Sadly, there is nothing that Devuan can do because Dyne admins the backend of their mailing lists. sad

#356 Re: Desktop and Multimedia » Firefox broken? » 2024-07-08 18:42:00

Well, there is always Stylus which is a bit of a pain but gets the job done. I was using it before uBlock Origin and it is still running and working. Oops . . . power just winked in and out. Thankful to have everything important hooked to a UPS . . .

#357 Re: Devuan » [SOLVED] Mailing list subscription broken » 2024-07-08 13:36:08

Thanks for letting us know. Will get that fixed asap. Until then, all the available subscription links seem to be working from this page:

#358 Re: Desktop and Multimedia » Firefox broken? » 2024-07-07 18:06:08

Is there even the equivalent to the script/add blocking plugin system for chrome?

uBlock Origin works just fine and has an option to block JS and also options to block stuff with a click..

#359 Re: Off-topic » The Joke Thread » 2024-07-06 16:16:20

I hope . . . erm, poke to please. big_smile

#360 Re: Off-topic » The Joke Thread » 2024-07-05 15:02:25

THUD . . . or maybe spud? That is biologically impossible.  Potatoes are waaaay too gnarly for 2 halves to look alike. Maybe more coffee? big_smile

#361 Re: Off-topic » The Joke Thread » 2024-07-04 00:49:56

Lighten up, @golinux! This is a joke thread . . .

Yeah . . . it's a joke for sure . . .

Sorry, couldn't resist . . . hehehe

#362 Re: Off-topic » The Joke Thread » 2024-07-04 00:46:33

Nice to see a new face in here . . . smile

#363 Re: Off-topic » The Joke Thread » 2024-07-03 20:59:45

As someone once said, you are only young once, but you can remain immature indefinitely! tongue

Very sad and very true but . . . somehow (and thankfully) I missed that memo so can't really relate to the glorification of youth. I was once trapped in a young body and had to associate with silly young ones and did so as little as possible. Adult company and conversation was still rather boring but a bit more interesting . . .

#364 Re: Off-topic » The Joke Thread » 2024-07-03 15:58:43

Has there been a timewarp? Are we back in highschool?

#365 Re: Off-topic » The Joke Thread » 2024-07-02 19:31:20

@greenjeans . . . Thanks for the catch-up! I would also prefer in-person but I think we'll have to settle with technology if we want it to happen. Specific info about the meet is posted on the devuan-dev mail list a few days prior.  At least we are TZ compatible . . .

Just for you, I'll have a look at the images even though memes are so not my thing. I am more of a word person . . . wink

#366 Re: Off-topic » How World Leaders are Scrambling to Secure Food in the Shadows » 2024-07-01 16:23:10

You keep digging that hole deeper . . . the choice is yours . . . but please, let's not waste any more of Devuan's resources on this nonsense.

Afterthought . . . I was just washing dishes and remembered a little story/tale/fable from decades ago . . . where or how it came to me is lost in time.

A monk lived high in the mountains and winter was coming. A devotee came before winter set in to offer the monk a gift of many books filled with teachings and wisdom. In the spring, the donor returned and asked if the monk found the books useful and the monk replied, "Oh yes, they were very warm books".

Hahahaha! Yes, I have had at least 3 different translations sitting on a shelf for decades.

The only "sin" is not seeing things as they are . . .

#368 Re: Off-topic » How World Leaders are Scrambling to Secure Food in the Shadows » 2024-07-01 15:33:56

Yes. Humans live in the confusion of the movie they create in their own minds from misinterpretation of incoming sensory data. Words just muddy things further . . .

#369 Re: Off-topic » How World Leaders are Scrambling to Secure Food in the Shadows » 2024-07-01 14:29:53

As usual, you are missing the point . . . maybe you are a confused bot . . .

#370 Re: Off-topic » How World Leaders are Scrambling to Secure Food in the Shadows » 2024-07-01 13:48:01

Good grief! Have you done no research?! There are many types of reproduction not just sexual but intentional human manipulation of genetic components is something that only imbalanced human minds could conceive and accomplish. That hubris will eventually scramble plant, animal and human reproductive systems in unrecoverable ways. Oh well . . . maybe we'll get another chance the next world cycle . . .

#371 Re: Off-topic » The Joke Thread » 2024-07-01 02:46:05

Oh, my dear greenjeans . . . what a wonderful surprise to see your post! It has been waaaay too long since you stopped by!! Yes, Hamlet was on to something that so few can understand but for very different reasons. Why don't you drop by our weekly Jitsi meet every Thursday at 20:30 UTC. That's 3:30 Central in DST and I think you're in Mountain. It usually doesn't last too long and we can hang out for a while after it's over. Bonus . . . fsmithred is usually there too!

#372 Re: Off-topic » The Joke Thread » 2024-06-30 17:49:55

@aluma . . . You have good taste. smile But then I'm prejudiced since that's what I grew up on and swam in for 40 years.

Disappointed?? And here I was thinking these jokes must have been well-known already, since anyone could find them online within a few seconds or so on any competent search engine. Or at the most a few minutes.

Why anybody would be interested in searching for "jokes" is unthinkable to me?! Any word play from this end has been something that popped into my own mind. And if I have a craving for the most excellent word play, I'll read some Shakespeare not this thread . . . wink
