@greenjeans, thanks for your time. I reinstalled one more time. Finally I noticed that I forgot to edit .asoundrc to connect to the correct sound card. That's easy fix, though. Appreciated your kind offer for the code changes, etc. .... yoshi
@greenjeans, I think we, at least myself, are having the problem on the latest version of Vuu-do-5.03-ob-max-z-20251024_2043.iso. I spent for a day to find out any solution but I do not find it. The problem is not allowing untrusted stuff.... For example, the tool of my-crappy radio player by miyolinux does not allowed to run since all components need t.o be manually installed or moved/copied to /usr/local/bin, etc.. the tool of firejail is not helpful. Can you make the additional work using the previous version or solve by yourself to remove this problem? I saw the initial condition with 2 items of en_us but all countries stuff installed after updating. I do not know if you are aware of. Thanks in advance ... yoshi
P.S, If this change is from your intention. Then please forgive me. We are still in daedalus but not excalibur yet. But I faced this problem already om daedalus using obamen.py for openbox the other day on devuan 5.
@greenjaens, have you noticed the comment of reader's review /comment that posted for EXTROX distro in Sourceforge? Here is the shortcut, that siad that Vuu-do is the only one that could play at 2160p in youtube video. Vuu-do is really amazing!
@greenjeans
The issue is not so complicated. I made a short walk arrond my place and thought what was missing after posting 2-3 hours ago. It seems I did not copy ja_JP staff into /usr/share/locale/ yesterday. Then I repeated from installation from iso, upgrade, ..... And copy ja_JP stuff ....
Bingo! I do not have any problem with English menu or as it is. But what I need additionally is to type my language using editor, browser and other tools. Now I can do so. For Libreoffice, I installed its l10n-ja so that I can type my languages under the localized menu.
Now I am happy and I think you are happy as well, aren't you? Thank you very much sending me very kind wordings for responding to my request.... Yoshi
Never mind, my friend. When I started the linux journey, back in ascii era, I spent my time with vuu-du and I thought I could have made it after installing locales-all and such. This is the background or why I wanted to test after seeing "New" vuu-do again early this year.
I like the concept of light system very much but it should be supported of 3S (Simplicity, Speediness and Straight-forward)?)). I forgot the 3rd one. I learned that concept when I was in colledge-era. Sound like your system is against those.... I do not think the language issue is not a variable here.... The skill-set should be the minimum requirement but unfortunately I do not think I have a good skill-set here to achieve the objectives or goal. Anyway keep up your good work!
Thank you very much on your explanation, greenjeans. from Yoshi
Thanks for the new version! I confirmed the big progress here. Under the default locale after upgrading, I installed fcitx5 and mozc after adding fonts and then rebooted.
Now I can type and display my language's fonts successfully on Libreoffice. But no success on browsers, editor, and such. Better to have this functionality on editor and browsers.
This is just a quick notes only working only for 1-2 hours. Appreciated on your efforts! I know vuu-do is not for customized languages but English only.
BTW, no success after changing locale, unfortunately. So far, so good! regards, yoshi
I thought you are working 32bit version, right? Mr. oui publshed Devuan Derivatives of my snapshot Devuan CERES Star 32 bit on 2024/02/22 under Devuan Derivative of this forum. Please check with https://dev1galaxy.org/viewtopic.php?id=6456.
You can try if it is workable or not. I am not sure. Personally I do not know if the development/supports on Devuan ceres 32bit is continuing or not since debian terminates the further /development/supports on debian 13+ 32bit. I personally use Ceres 64 bit version, upgraded roughly 2 months ago.
I need to work with Virtualbox so I stay with 6.12.38-deb13-amd64 kernel. My sources.list is with old format but I have not been alerted to upgrade the sources.list yet. Probably my kernel installed is not newest.
If you are working on 64bit, you need to follow the right procedure in upgrading from Daedalus by installing usrmerge. Without installing usrmerge, you cannot upgrade to ceres properly even if you changed the sources.list properly.
Hopefully you can work further by step-by-step approach for achieving your goal!

The website is under construction after re-design ... Several iso's would be coming sooner or later. I do not know the detail but will see.
Please visit https://fluxuan.org/
Why not try another one like betterbird or epyrus?! I'd recommend epyrus since it is easier to switch by copying Mail sub-directory from thunderbird's stuff.
I do not know if you are aware of MiyoLinux Daedalus version that Jim Acklaw released last March under Sourceforge. You will notice Dan made his comment for it by showing his appreciation to Jim as its first reviewer. Jim declares to provide x86_64 version per Devuan release cycle. ... yoshi
I have been failing at the system-update after installation due to wifi issue. Finally I made it by installing cinnamon this time. So I installed connman right away. Seems my PC has been a connection problem with LAN for a while,
By the way, this is very interesting to play with so far. I could install IME of Fcitx plus Mozc to enable to type the local charactors via keyboard from the start so this is the big benefit for those who need to install double byte characters like me assuming that is the default for Chimaera .... I hope.
Cheers!
Hi guys,
I found the duvuanated mint below,
https://all-things-linux.blogspot.com/2 … ition.html
Steps are outlined there. I tested several times but seems to have several constraints.
Thanks, Michaels or alphalpha,
I checked the video you provided and changed the way for the installation.
I specified the boot partition of 200MB under legacy/extlinux instead of legacy/grub then everything was smooth. I had been installing without boot partition under legacy/grub. No success without boot partition under legacy/exlinux. That's why I could not make it.
After re-boot, the default keyboard was german instead of what I selected in installation so I needed press z for "y".
After login, the keyboard setting was OK under the proper localization of the system. Lots of stuff are pre-installed.
Keep up your good work!
michael,
Thanks for your reply. Actually no error message was generated. Repeating to get the same result without any message.
I think I did as you instructed but I might be wrong since your installer is different.
I just confirmed your update is only Oct. issue. When I had checked, I saw two versions with Sept issue there.
I prefer to have your video or the written procedure with picture if you have a time. Then you would have the more customers for your distro hopefully. Cheers!
Hi Michaels,
Thanks for your continuous efforts to release the update every month.
I noticed the Oct. issue was very strange with very tiny size of 13.5MB.
Could you confirm if it is the right one? And kindly add how to install via your Michaels installer as well for me or for us. I have been downloading almost for all update but I have never been succeeding to finish the installation but failing after typing "/dev/sda".
Another thanks!
Yoshi
Hi Hevydevy,
I did install it instead of login. No idea about login name and password so I did so. The installer is like Star so it is debian installer.
It is based on lxde with openbox so a bit different configuration.
Is it helfule?!
