New Promising Adobe and Microsoft Office Replacement

https://github.com/storytold/

This is a new and interesting project. Its aim is to replicate the functionality of all Adobe and Microsoft Office products. The project is still in alpha, so it is not 100% completed, but it works. It is written in Rust, and each application is under 100 MB, running extremely quickly.

I suggest watching the following youtube video with regards to this, at first glance it might look like a perfect clone but it's miles away from being one: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I-Es-R7VUwM

If you have some ideological restrictions – it's no problem. I've no affiliation with this free and open source product and share this with others who need it. Personally I don't care about language and have no problem with wibecoding.

More of that I understand that commercial LLMs are trained mostly, always exclusively on open source code. So, to my mind it must be (as it will be fair) free to all open source projects, but the world is not perfect.

Re: New Promising Adobe and Microsoft Office Replacement

Commercial LLMs (plagiarising) being trained on FOSS code, is a far greater problem than a few flakey, "unsupported" clones of MS and Adobe products. You're missing the wood for the trees.

MS owns and controls github, one of the largest repositories of software projects on earth. They're not at all concerned about a few attempts at MS Office cloning. MS and others are moving to or have long since moved to the SAAS model. They have everything tied up, which is why businesses aren't running Linux workstations, roughly 20 years after Canonical (now an MS sellout operation) claimed it was possible.
