alt title: choosing food (data training diet for your LLM)
Funny thinking the interplay of bigLLM and libresoftware.
Vibe coding is one central sales pitch of bigLLM . Obviously .. most libresoftware is free (as in no price!) .
So uploading all that code to LLM big data centers is :
- a fast and cheap way to create a good pitch that it will attract the usual attention of the usual big-tech (as in big pockets) lovers.
- a fast way to give credit to your ultra hype balloon in order to start tapping on investors money and politicians egos.
So as a hypothetical LLM investor that is on the LLM bandwagon tapping on piles of public subsidies , water , land , and investors money i should first of all thank RMS and FSF ??
What do i miss ?
Also i wonder if bigLLMs (as in big in size and belonging to big pockets) are ok with binary files ? Could i give them e.g a closed nvidia driver or some nvidia blobs and do vibe coding with it ? I wonder what policy nvidia (the ex-gaming-gpu corp and currently most big AI company) has on that issue ? I wonder how Nvidia could protect it self if a local LLM could cracks its blobs . I wonder if Linus would approve that vibe coding since he poses as a show me the code guy. (blob you say ? ....xmm.. that piece of '''software''' that is even less intelligible that machine code... signals calibrating on semiconductor-level unique quirks ... like speaking a language no one understands? no ISA involded? interesting ... so maybe an LLM would throw up a blob??) (i wonder if a blob qualifies as a software .... i think not.. its semi-level signaling quirks).
And generaly i guess bigLLM want good and cheap training food. In an cut-throat-evolutionary view of the world imagining big trucks offloading big piles of old books (1) and libresoftware in front of big LLMs for training through destructive data-decomposing kind of aligns perfectly with that world view .. dont you think ?
Speaking of bigLLM data diet .(or web-crawelrs's d-diet) . I wonder.. is there a data that cant be eaten ? That would make it throw up ? Or bad for digestion ? Or totally un-eatable ? And how that is related to the essence of what is 'software' and what is digitized data .
I've read recently many news about microsoft increasing the window security patches. That means that it's binary is increasingly used as LLM food . But LLM controlled by what would ms consider hostile. So it's kind of peculiar funny irony what happens. How ms or other big companies would protect their binaries from hostile LLMs? I wonder if for a LLM binary-assembly-higher source code structure is rather irrelevant to it's abilities. And if yes.. why not make windows open source ? Why ? As a defense maybe . Or because it's irrelevant. And if source is irrelevant what is open source ? Maybe a defence is windows as firmware on a chip ?
..So from an LLM's perspective both Linux and Windows are very good structured data food with Linux perhaps been a little lighter to it's ram-guts due to its higher source code ? (like a sauce on a food ?)

I've read couple reports on propriatery social media (ex Twitter. links from other sites (1) since i dont have account ) that already 'programmers' use bigLLM to reverse engineer games object code and then instruct bigLLMs to do various change to that code.
So in a strange irony bigLLM has started shooting on the food the big corporations that support it (security wise for now mostly).
The essense of the issue is that for a bigLLM object code is functionally seen as open source. So i guess the next move is keys everywhere ?
I cant help but notice a social aspect here. The 'programmers' who try 'opensourcing' closed binaries obviously have access to enough money in order to use these bigLLM's and obviously they dont have a respect for opensource or anything. But judging by how they use the 'opensource' word obviously they dont have a clue and they mean - I can do what ever i want without respecting other peoples efforts and intentions .Which in a sense is a reflection of the ethics that bigLLM has shown sofar with the 'i can steal every well formed byte that exists in the internet'. And thus they use 'opensource' as synonymous for stealing ... Another trait of the ultra rich wrecking car ethos. Lets throw all big concepts on the llm blender and have fun scratching our itches.
They remind me of the ethics of spoiled rich types that use their cash with a mentatlity - WOW lets f*** everybody. Social norm are useless.Lets drive on the highway @as fast as we can and see how many innocent bystanders we can kill in the process.
So IF we had a social scientist we could possible hear that bigLLM is not the essence. Perhaps pathological concentration of power , money , computing , comm etc can create havoc in a society. And why the social scientist would help us? Because we would understand that bigLLM is a manifestation of bigPower . Just a tentacle.
I get the strange feeling that whole earth has become a playground for relative young ultra rich bros . Ironically the nvidia ceo who now poses as the hypedAI semigod has build his fortune on gpu for playing addictive games...
Sorry... i can help my self also notice that many successful language learning apps like duolingo , lingodeer etc are basically run from invenstors and programmers with NONE reference to academics linguistic support !. This is why you will never find independent journalist interviewing their ceos and creators. And now with bigLLM their 'model' has freed them more with any moral obligations.

"...this toxic blight covers the entirety of the Internet. These companies are the absolute worst f****** parasites our society has yet created..."
- the developer of xscreensaver, former Netscape developer and Mozilla founder.
There is a clear strategy of plaigarism among these big LLMs. For those of us who are not the morons on the "it's a great tool!" bandwagon, it's all too obvious.
It's also just a small part of a wider corporate strategy to undermine and destroy FOSS software - in particular that which is licensed under the GPL. If you can get an LLM to "assist" in rewriting some GPL software, then release it under e.g. the MIT licence - profit. There will be enough corporate schills promoting and supporting the "fork", to ensure the obsolescence of the original. Any copyright issues can be sidestepped by rewriting in a fashionable "memory safe" language. Which also adds some much needed security theatre.
