Freia installation issues

Hello,
new to the galaxy. I've been using devuan since ascii. So I'm not new to devuan. Most of my systems are running excalibur. I have one server still on daedalus. I have one excalibur workstation running the 7.0.9 kernel and another running a 6.19 kernel. I needed the realtak r8169 driver in each of those. I digress.

I've been playing with freia in kvm virtual machines. I've set it up multiple times trying to play with different desktops. So far the only one that has successfully installed was xfce. My preference would be lxqt. I rather like lxqt coming from MATE.

I just tried to install lxqt with the 9-09 iso and ended up at a command prompt with no gui. other gui's sometimes install but leave me at a terminal window with (it seems) nothing else installed. Is this normal for this stage of development? Am I doing something wrong?

Thanks,
Curtis

Re: Freia installation issues

You did nothing wrong.  Evidently, task-lxqt-desktop has moved some of its (former) Depends packages to Recommends now.  I hope this was not intentional.  I can manually change it in the installer iso, if it comes to that.  For now, you should be able to apt install lxqt to get what you're missing.

Evidently, this was done intentionally

Looking at that commit, it has affected much more than just lxqt.

Re: Freia installation issues

Confirmed.

task-lxqt-desktop and sddm are installed, but there are no lxqt packages installed. Boots to console login. And 'startx' seems to be missing, although there are xorg packages installed.

I've installed lxqt in freia a few times previously, but always after a base (no-X) install. This is the first time I've tried selecting lxqt from the tasksel menu, so I don't know if this is a new behavior or not.

apt install lxqt brings in a lot. (Total 1477 packages) It looks like everything is there now.
