Cups error AFTER successful print

Running daedalus, cups hosted on a separate pc running daedalus too.

I don't know which devuan release introduced this symptom (I've skipped one or two releases on the print server) but it's wasting two sheets of paper each time I print something.

When a file is printed successfully, the printer is ready again, then after a moment prints a blank sheet and another one with:

ERROR:
timeout
OFFENDING COMMAND:
timeout
STACK:

That happens with all the applications I use for printing. The single exception I've seen so far has been printing PDFs with xpdf.
