How come you still have libsystemd0?

Its a devuan3 stable installation.

If i try to remove libsystemd0 it wants to remove these dependencies, not sure what dragged it in, but its there.

The following packages will be REMOVED:

^ The aptitude command will probably offer to replace libsystemd0 with libelogind0.

Here's my Alpine Linux desktop running sway with openrc-init as PID1:

The /usr/bin/sway executable is supplied with the setuid bit enabled but I've disabled that and installed & enabled elogind for a rootless desktop.

Secure Boot is also enabled, which is nice.

dpkg: libsystemd0:amd64: dependency problems, but removing anyway as you requested:
 xserver-xorg-core depends on libsystemd0; however:
  Package libsystemd0:amd64 is to be removed.
 samba-libs:amd64 depends on libsystemd0.
 rsyslog depends on libsystemd0.
 lvm2 depends on libsystemd0 (>= 222).
 libpulse0:amd64 depends on libsystemd0.
 liblvm2cmd2.03:amd64 depends on libsystemd0 (>= 222).
 libapt-pkg5.0:amd64 depends on libsystemd0 (>= 221).

Thanks for picking this up, i suppose having no install recommends in etc/apt/preferences.d probably left out libelogind somewhere. Much needed package that one!

Here's my desktop itself,

XFCE with the Clearlooks theme, Gnome Brave icons, and the Agualemon window manager theme. I happen to like skeuomorphism, tyvm!

Freshly installed Beowulf with Gnome-3.30. Using openRC init. Working fine except for udev issue with particular kernel (5.6.x bpo). Yes, Gnome 3.x works on Devuan. (and without systemd)

I believe the old system, plays a major role to have auto-optimized, i have another coherent system when Xorg spends almost 50MB on Idle.
So, sorry i don't have a precise answer to why is low my Xorg, except for some individual interventions i believe have helped reducing the usage of Xorg/system may i call a bit of an answer.

Beowulf with KDE Plasma 5 (click to full size):

The Devuan version of KDE Plasma is quite usable even on old hardware (12 years).

Of course, I made a bunch of customizations. Now, I'm very happy with the system and I plan to install it on a few boxes of my family.

Well, Crunchbang was part of systemd since Waldorf, Infact when i joined the community i found it with systemd. IIRC CrunchBang Statler was the last CrunchBang systemd free. I came from Ubuntu/Linux Mint on my early so, i found #! also LinuxBBQ as a school for tweaking distro's and a fun places to meet many many awesome users.

Yes, i'm still part of BL community, I will always be part of that community although not very active to be fair.
I'm glad you're having fun tweaking Openbox, Conky or whatever, May i suggest you to check out these fantastic collections, Addy's is a extraordinary man.

I try to keep things very minimal, with almost nothing but my windows on screen (not even a desktop background) and just using Openbox's features, not adding a lot of docks, panels, icons etc. Not even a desktop wallpaper. This minimalism is what I like about Openbox - there's less to distract me and there's also less to configure and manage and less to go wrong. But I do add a handful of essentials, including a "Great Circle" Conky config, a system tray, an application launcher (rofi) an Openbox theme (Arc-Dark), and my own Openbox configuration with my own keyboard shortcuts.

Statusbar is using slstatus with dwm statuscolors patch, also using other patches as per below.

I really like breeze

My ancient Dragora D2. (D3 beta2 due out end of next month all thing being well) I have a dislike for dynamic tilers as the raving dyslexic in me struggles with the crazy number of keybinds they tend to have. I always end up chasing windows around rather than just putting them where I want them to be :-)
Hence evilwm-gaps. Minimal keybinds, master slave and set to open up roughly 1/4 screen size means that I have pseudo-tiling too.
