iposted here this to help those that have same problem..

in my laptop and hp dv1000 the camera have some problem.. i noted its same problem with many hp hardware..

take in consideration that hp and linux are not preciselly friends..

camera starts.. light of camera get on! but the program that start the camera dont lauch or lauch but said no devices detected...

camera now mantains light on, seems get hang and not respond...

if try to use it, with any other program does not respond or seems not exist anymore..

the problem its that the camera its a usb internal device, and the usb bus could restart the device.. only happened in the laptos..

if the camera are usb extenal, with changin of port are enough

please.. define destructive! not confusin with "blind"

and by the way.. still the bugs are not have response, i see that preocupation in the forums..

i alway said the meaning of "contrast" its strong agains soft, not soft agains soft but at leas users can change the look when login in the forum..

I bet that if you survey how many users change the main theme you will find a big surprise, maybe forum need to make a survey to see it users real opinion..

#206 Re: Forum Feedback » available forum skins/themes » 2017-06-22 15:04:27

I have made constant complaints about the combination of colors without contrast ...

it seems that the one who chose the subject does not know what the meaning of "contrast"

purple vs white are BOTH soft colors.. we need a strong color vs a soft color... please!

you are totally wrong, Devuan are still based on Debian work.. so the freedom are based on the Debian complication and Devuan availibility of comunity effors.. so if "there's no time" and/or "there's no money" .. the future are black..

as example: xorg soon will drop support complety to older chips.. i have many machines WORKING with matrox, ati and voodo chips.. so due DRI and KMS modern linuxes will not work anymore.. my tv-capture cards also never will go back due that

FOSSuser wrote:

Debian has a bureaucracy, Devuan is a collective, which makes for a very different way of decision making.

No, I don't think Devuan will merge back into Debian. Devuan will grow stronger & become a major player in the base distro area.

Edit: Devuan developers are listening to what its users want.

we all can dream.... make it really its a hard processs

currently Debian dropped support for all 586/486 hardware.. i have some of that machines configured as firewalls.. so then of course Devuan as Debian "copy" (no? its not and make proxy of the packages?) also will drop support for 486/586.... so ill let Devuan..

if we think that nobody today uses older hardware.. we are totally wrong.. users with newer hardware will not complicated if systemd are or not in their OS's.. their have powered machine.. only install and use it!

this case its similar to the EeePC suft 2G : http://200.82.144.73/dokuwiki/doku.php? … -8g-laptop a temporali link for a temporally forum (yes in Devuan there lot of change until today)

(I may have to study the custom setup for the live ISO user.)

the refracta snapshot doe not produce a good result, i mean, does not produce a good result..

i taking to produce equal process disc products.. no copy disc instalation products..

and some here said:

. Devuan devs have been focused on removing systemd dependencies, not on changing everything else.

sorry but seem Devuan start page dont said that.. satar like that,.. buit its suppost to be a distro.. not a copy based!?

or i assumed its a copy based that only remove systemd and then release? so then dont change the name.. only put "Debian-sysvinit derivative" and get on  the Debian derivates list .. please men!

#210 Re: Devuan » Stretch is coming, Devuan status backported or up to date packages » 2017-06-22 14:32:19

Why so negative about the future?  Accept the challenge or lose your freedom.  For me that choice is obvious . . .

the current "choices" are very vage and away of real freedom...

currently Xorg are complety moving to DRI and wayland are incoming ar maybe a default desktop...

i have a good machine, but older.. i can see movies at 1024p edit videos in HD1024p inclusive can someting see movies at 2048p if are 1024k rate..  of course using only openbox or wm

but with that "changes" in near future, my machine that still are WORKING and ROCKS, due WORK AND DO THE JOB, will not work anymore...  due the chipset and xorg will remove the support for it...

so my freedom are a fake.. due the change forces me to "buy new hardware, when my older hardware still work" only that developers dont "have attention on old stuff"

so ok, the code its here right? but some developers are not so "frindly" and "not have time to explain complicated things to support olders stuffs"

people like me need more "stupid explanatios" to make some piece of code... so answers never come..

freedom.. now free software are stupid M$ like world... industry control the software of FOSSS

now are Devuan a fake of the industri also?

that irritate me.. why overload my precious interent connection (that are very expensive here) if i can have all locally ... also a disc media install more faster rather than a network internet based...

very interesting and very backguard compat... i think that must be included also in devuan jessie in backports..  i like that vdev exists due now udev was superset by systemd we have an alternative

in other way.. vdev has no so much activity last was a month ago.. and the average show 0 commits..  and for completion its a fork of orphaned vdev..

well for test and see if on a near future gets some powerup ...

well... i suspect that..

A debian install from CD-1 does not give you a full set of applications if you don't use a network mirror. Been there, done that.

i dont taking about comlete application set, but at least install network management and minimal need text editor, desktop  and setup environment preferences... in the case of LXDE and XFce4

The jessie-vdev iso was made for testing vdev, not to provide someone with a full system. I tried to keep it light so the download would be smaller

good job, how u made it? can post a how to in some place?

that are depends of availability of packages in the media or are hardcoded in the installer.. ?

About that installer CD. It's not very useful. You end up with an incomplete desktop (no network manager, no browser, no word processor). Some of those packages are on the CD and you can install them with..., um, oh yeah. No synaptic. I think that's on the CD, too. So you'd have to install from terminal first.

In debian the CD flavors does install complete environment.. why this minimal behavior!?

You could probably install lxde on a live iso that had openbox and then install. There might soon be a refracta-ascii iso with openbox, lxterminal, lxpanel and a couple other small lx-somethings. That's just a few packages short of full lxde (but a lot less than task-lxde-desktop, which pulls in all the desktop applications with it.)  If you want to try it, here's a jessie with vdev iso that fits the description -
http://distro.ibiblio.org/refracta/file … 3_0159.iso

why a so minimal incomplete set of prorams? a 700MB media are enough to a complete desktop..of course no office realted packages!

Did I miss an LXDE Live/install ISO?

i dont understant that part!

For that matter, does any of them provide a choice between wicd/network-manager and connman-ui)?
I've found no ISO with wicd/network-manager that can switch off wi-fi or re-connect (even eth/wired).
... Has anyone succeeded at this?

if u talk about during install process, debian does and devuan but only using the original debian installer

Would it be less trouble to add LXDE to a live openbox ISO?  Or a live Xfce ISO?

obviously.. in the openbox case, but if you not based on a derivate product..
in the case of Xfce not, due the live-scrits are hardcoded to Xfce...

in that cases, debian uses a config file loccated at the root of the disc with all of these parameters.. that's why i want to use the debian way...

Is there a recipe for converting a DebIan Live Lxde ISO?

converting partially yes!, makin from zero yes..
refracta does, an debian-cd does too debian wiki has the recipes..

return to the topic, i can see that the task in installer of Devuan are related to the installer sources itsef right? how its the process for and where i must change the desktop choice?

Ouch!  I actually have a machine like that in the back room that I retired years ago . . .

my machine are working and i have more special setups, like the focused blog for eeepc 2g 4g Asus laptops see it: debianeepc2gsurf.blogspot.com

Amprolla is an APT repository realtime merging....

why this important tecnicall information are not easy available for users?

that's explain many of things! so then in any case if this its the behaviour, i think Devuan developers now will have more work if continue mirroring the Debian repository, due the two main changes: debugger package repository and xorg new behaviour

so i see the future too complicated

Debian lists announce that Stretch is coming! and will make release images from Saturday, the release will be coming soon https://release.debian.org/stretch/arch_qualify.html

this its only for informative, we know that Devuan its like Debian does in past, stable release need attention and Debian today its like winbuntu...

but my question here is: Can Devuan have more up to date packages in backports rather than Debian?

i mean, Devuan can take a step ahead and made their own backports packages more up to dates respect the debian does...? there's some idea or plan to do that in devuan? and security releases?

the major changes are a new totally behavior or Xorg.. legacy implementations vs modern DRI implementations those changes will be tracked by Devuan or will be totally by own?

also the debug packages now are separated (reasonable idea)

In one of the posts above, you mentioned wanting to make a live-CD. You can use live-build from the repository to do that. You could also use live-sdk (not packaged) or refractasnapshot (in experimental repo) as alternate methods. There are some threads in the Documentation section of the forum regarding live-build and live-sdk.

some info about changin the default task of XFCe4? i tried repackagin the task-data package but no luck.. the result its a package that not register my changes...

umm maybe i need to modify its the installer.. but i dont know if the devuan installer modify too much from debian installer...

so inconclusion i'll try the debina-way and will adapt if something are not like devuan must be

If you use that procedure and just note the changes you had to make, that would be helpful.

be cool, i'll do it and produce good docs ..

hi golinux, and rest of people, I mentioned that I'm going to generate documentation, that is, I'm going to contribute, but I'm not going to lie about something I do not see, I can not see the things that are not, and what I see is changes and experiments,

if something is not here we have to assume and say "It's true there is not, but we can manufacture it" and that's what I want to do .. but I do not have the same resources as you or others .. why should I be discriminated by that?

if i criticed in some offending way, sorry for that, but this was also bad and not right: https://talk.devuan.org/t/stop-talking/684

My purpose is to help those who wish to collaborate but do not know where or how ... do not have time but want to do something ... they do not have the money but they want to get involved, they do not have a powerful machine but they want to install it ..

golinux wrote:

@mckaygerhard . . . If you want to continue to post here, please be more respectful of those who are trying to help you.  Insulting Devuan or Devuan developers is not going to go well for you.  An attitude adjustment is in order . . .

nowi golinux , the question its that i want to change the default XFce4 desktop in original disc set for LXDE due Devuan does not offers LXDE only disc, only derivates do.. but i not have the guidelines for.. only Debian references..

i want to do something on Devuan but as today i not have the docs.. and the current documentation are very confused, many changes...

git.debuan.org seems very quiet.. and i not have stable internet connection so i must do any thing mostly offline (i emulated the network complety at my work)

the project cannot assumed all the people have a powered hardware and lof of resources.. not all the contributors have pleny of resources.. in this case we are discriminating ...

and i just said i will generate some docs for rest of people, my target its the contribution.. but not

hi smoky, quite strange as Somewhat Reticent said, i have that package in Devuan and other Debian installed and working without that problem, i assumed that was just fixed the bug..  i must search now..

smoki wrote:

Here is the search for 'libsqliteodbc' on debian packages, so as you can see certainly it is not in jessie:

https://packages.debian.org/search?keyw … ection=all

There you can spot it was removed cos of 'Bug #771669: segfault on SQLPrepare SELECT with expression result column'

https://packages.qa.debian.org/s/sqlite … 3914Z.html

And it seems was never returned back in jessie, basically Debian prob.

I can only guess that maybe you are running debian jessie from before its release and if installed, that package is there but just for you smile Or maybe you have some weird repo combinations enabled there so it came from somewhere else. etc...

an eeepc 2g its the most limited x86 hardware u can found today, apart of the K6-III or the C3 procesors, but eeepc are very limit due disc/less and less of expansion slots (in normal way)

as you can see in that blog, performs very well breath of fire 2 (very short game, BOF 3 for PSX are better)
