I have not yet had to deal with that - still on Jessie. On more recent FF versions where pulseaudio is a hard dependency, libpulse0 won't save you. But do not despair. apulse will get alsa back on FF. There are instructions here and there on how to do this (too lazy to go do the legwork).

How's me being new at Devuan forums relates to actual matters of discussion?
If you have to ask that question, it's unlikely you'd understand the answer.
Hi,
Devuan has its own devuan-sdk:
which is a tool to create different kinds of Devuan-based images. In your case, you can create a live image by using live-sdk. It comes with two pre-defined "blends" (desktop-live and minimal-live). It's an easy and extremely customisable way of getting your own live Devuan derivative.
HTH
KatolaZ
Indeed. inukaze be careful who you take advice from.
ToxicExMachina, why would you advise someone to follow an (in your words) incorrect method to mount a partition?
Indeed. RIA77 . . . listen carefully to KatolaZ not someone who just dropped in here a few days ago and is new to Devuan.
@ToxicExMachina . . . really . . . what is your problem.
I am unable to locate a page to download beowulf from.
I will appreciate a link if there is one.
Thanks
Beowulf has not been released yet so no official isos available. There are some test images here:
https://pkgmaster.devuan.org/devuan/dis … nt/images/
and here:
https://pkgmaster.devuan.org/devuan/dis … s/netboot/
YMMV depending on your usecase.
I installed some months ago using the mini.iso
We did not "lash out". As a result of his comments, we improved how Devuan is presented on the website. He was invited to contribute but disappeared when he couldn't bully us into his (misinformed) vision of what we should be doing. Celebrity doesn't count for much here especially when it's saddled with an attitude.
Hmmmm . . . that's odd. Also the Debian branding on ASCII. A bit stomach turning . . .
Nice find! Interesting that dzz had a hand in it.
Suggested listing:
ThomOS (formerly Crunkbong)
That's what I was thinking. Let's see what siva says.
More devs on deck to build them would be great too. ![]()
How about https://codeberg.org/ ?
Two red flags . . . more java script licenses than I can count on my 10 fingers and a rather strange ToS. Plus emojis . . . really? We want to minimize the web interface not expand it.
I'm wondering how to deal with the name change on the derivative lists. Maybe just leave crunkbong for now and add "crunkbong is now thomOS" and change the link? Thoughts?.
@siva . . . Hello stranger! Nice to see you. We're looking at Gitea. It will hopefully be up for testing soon but then require extensive testing before the final decision is made.
Yes, a big thank you to KatolaZ and rolfie for sharing their research and experience. I am rather hardware-challenged. Farm out all but the simplest tasks like changing a HD or PCI card. Still mostly on 1 TB WD black spinning drives that go on like the energizer bunny. I'll stay on them as long as they are in good health. I'll cross the SSD bridge when the time comes . . . possibly not this lifetime. LOL!
Isn't "long life SSD" an oxymoron?
@dimonic . . . all links in the first post of this thread and elsewhere on this forum are "live". If there is something that you think requires extensive "conversation", You can start a new thread in the appropriate section (probably not Announcements). If you just want to comment, drop it here. If it turns into a "thing" I can split off to a separate thread. Keep in mind that this is a forum not a wiki. Users may post documentation but it is ephemeral and will likely become outdated in time.
@inukaze . . . I'm curious how you got auto.mirror repos on an ascii install. deb.devuan.org is the default repo in ascii which mirrors pkgmaster.devuan.org
Please have a look at https://devuan.org/os/etc/apt/sources.list
I'm disturbed that GitLab is on that list.
FYI . . . the Devuan team is looking at alternative options to gitlab.
@dimonic . . . please make your suggestions by responding to the threads/posts you think need to be improved.
What to do in the meantime? How to keep it going while the systemd "virus" spreads?
Well, talking and wishing and philosophizing won't get the job done. That takes committed volunteers willing to do the work. Unfortunately, end users and outsiders have lots of ideas/demands but rarely lift a finger to make them a reality.
@cynwulf . . . You are and have always been welcome here but the drama is a bit of a buzzkill.
* edit: Just noticed my 1500th post which of course is dedicated to cynwulf

@Panopticon . . . you have undertaken a Sisyphean task. This thread could continue with 100 posts of repetitive arguments, nothing will change and I guarantee you will never get the last word. As tempting as the bait is, the only off button is silence.
I'm out of ideas. Maybe take your question to the Xfce forum. They are friendly and knowledgeable and have solved issues for me more than once.
